RPK published a letter from a Naragan who claims to be a "voice of 'Indians'" in the racist BN/MIC Malaysian landscape. As RPK mentioned, this guys keeps on bitching and whining about racist discrimination, while at the same time insisting on speaking on an ethnocentric & racist platform.
After getting "bitch-slapped" in the comments section in his two earlier letters, he decided to take on RPK, and write a letter saying "Bodoh RPK" - (which RPK has published in "No Holds Barred") that too, while complaining about the very same issues brought up by RPK for ages.

Yup - they tried to appeal to racist sentiments of Malaysians first. Then they try to discredit RPK in his attempt to create awareness.
They seem to try recruiting aficionados from Malaysia Today, just as during the time they tried to recruit guys to support their "Putera MIC" (which was supposed to be "an NGO-like" organisation) - and of course failed miserably.

This newbie Naragan, obviously has woken up from a very deep sleep and has realized that his sweet dreams were nothing but a nightmare due to this disease brought about by the racist/ "estate" politics. Either that, or he's just another "Trojan" planted by the SB/ MIC/ BN - just as all the "independents" contesting in Bkt. Selambau, and the "disillusioned PKR members" who sought candidacy under the PKR ticket. It appears that these slogan-savvy "fighters" choose a very convenient time to make demands of a party in an infant electoral pact that has given them voice when their non-existent organisation has no track record any achievement since 25.11.07 ......
BTW - despite their "denials", they've been spotted associating themselves with their political masters in the BN camp (yes - the very ones who treated them like anjing kurap/ sori nai for 50yrs.

The sad part is, although he (Naragan) claims to have woken up, and he now finds himself in a "strange land", with "strange politics" he fails to understand. Sadder still, he peddles the same old race politics which he just cannot shake-off.
Poor Hind-ruffians --- Sigh .... indeed, old habits die hard.

Just as we come to the close of the 20th (60th if you fall for propaganda) Mahathirist Umno Baru general assembly, and start a new chapter in the political evolution of our nation, it is time we take stock of the message that has been conveyed by the the whole circus and drama.
Despite his shameless whining, culpable or not, Pak lah did mention one big truth -
"Materialism has seeped into the party, making a number of party members greedy and avaricious, hence creating the negative perception that Umno is a corrupt party."

The "Real General Elections" is now over - The Malaysian/ Mahathirist "Demo(n)cracy" has been played out in all its glory, all the choice of leaders have been (apparently) decided by 2500 individuals. As usual, it was an orchestrated scam par excellence, and in the truly Umno tradition, the posts will be tied to Government/Cabinet posts with no regard for competency.

As expected, Muhyiddin has made it past the finish line, while Hishamuddin gets a stab at the vice president post (with his beloved Kris, which the Youth have rejected, told him to shove where the sun don't shine) along with Shafie Afdal & Zahid Hamidi.
This now, assures that the window of opportunity to keep the dynasties of Aristocrats alive.

The whole circus was quite obviously a big charade of a "democracy" and scam of astronomical proportions. How does one justify it all, when we see Sabahans with absolutely no appeal among the vast majority non-"bahasa baku" speaking West Malaysian Umno-ites, being a VP? And two other Sabahans who aren't known for anything positive being in the new "exco"?
With these clowns as reps for Sabah in the exco, it's quite a cheap pay-off for keeping BN in power, if you ask me .....

Many "big guns" like Rais Yatim, Shahrir, Azalina, Adnan Yaakob, Ghani Othman, Isa Sabu & Mohd Hassan have got the chop. The delegates weren't let down though - note that in keeping with Umno culture and image, the bumbling and irrationally barking MPs - Bung Mokhtar of Kinabatngan & Tajuddin of Pasir Salak have made it to the Supreme Council.(Knowing Umno's "genius" for traditions & "culture", it cannot be ruled out that the infamous Bung might just be appointed as a Minister holding the Culture & Tourism portfolio, while Tajuddin holds the Information portfolio!!).

The trade-off & tussle for the Youth post led to much accusations of rigging, based on insinuations of the loser and the post announcement clash between supporters. The discussion and video on this blog (Depa Kata) at least can attest to that. Of course - there had to be denials from the "in-your-face" victor (just as in Rembau) - leaving a bad taste. The winner of course made a pretense of being overwhelmed by the results after being written-off repeatedly. Despite being foreign born, bred and educated (also the most articulate and "sophisticated") Khairy has managed to "win" this coveted post - and all the talk about "closing ranks" will remain just that, while the stage is set for a cold war between the scions (and KJ risks being left out in the cold).

Battle Royale?

So there you have it - a spanking new "leadership", unblushingly screaming out accountability, righteousness and justice. Of one which receives much accolade from its minions/ adulation for its pledges of reform. One which claims to be whiter than white - despite allegations heartlessness & "cold blood on their hands".

Sadly though, in actual fact, not one of the candidates to any significant post can lay claim to being truly an advocate of integrity. It is a leadership which scorns Democracy, a free media, the rule of law, and despises accountability in a court of law . The "election of the team" however was preceded by plenty of hypocritical dramatics, wherein those guilty of "unethical conduct" were prevented from contesting or just reprimanded.
Yes - it was simply, plenty of horse-trading & "wayang kulit", with the "tok dalang" justifying and consolidating his position.
To make matters worse, the guilty were allowed to retain other political posts as a consolation prize for their "cooperation".
Much talk about "unity" & "reform" was made on all fronts ad nauseaum, without really knowing the motive for it (beyond greed, that is). To those peddling this idea, though clueless, it simply meant knowing which side their bread was buttered.
Beyond all the high flung ideals, in essence, none of them had any clue as what they needed to do towards nation building or achieving nationhood (which is the least of their concerns anyway). All of them were simply peddling racist ideals, with some proposing fascistic ideas of repression. Those who spoke of reforms were simply posturing, without really giving a fig about it.

Mahathir has definitely left a permanant legacy and stamped his mark in Umno Baru, which is virtually impossible to wipe out. The only thing is, it hasn't worked out according to his grand design (or "vision", as he calls it). This only further reinforces the idea that Umno is still needed, it can only reform when it is out of Federal power - despite all the pseudo-intellectual "analysis" from their mouthpieces in the MSM/Astro Awani.
In the end, all we got was a rehash of nauseating platitudes and stale exhortations of "cleanliness, integrity, ketuanan melayu, loyalty", while the party remains mired in what it has been for the past 20 Mahathirist years. We had in the past, the sleeping face of Umno in Abdullah. However, in line with the mantra of "change", the new leader does give a very fitting new image - Cupidity.

After all the "intrigue" and drama, there is but one message that rang loud and clear for all Malaysians -

"There is no Message. There is nothing new.

This Is Mahathir's covetous baby - just get used to it."

What does "salam" mean to you?
Whatever it may mean to you, it definitely doesn't mean "peace" in Umno. To Umno-ites, it means something else altogether - something more sinister. It is a culture which is so deeply entrenched, that it is boldly promoted and advocated by all and sundry within the "network".

Strangely, it was the MSM, NST online, which came out with an interesting piece on the "Salam" culture in Umno!! - "Umno General Assembly: Umno delegates “salam-ed” themselves to dubious largesse"
Here's an excerpt:

It does not take an expert to guess what these two were talking about. For the uninitiated, ‘salam’ in Umno election refers to the act of giving bribes.

Are Kuala Lumpur's rent-seekers raiding the public purse again?

The Valuecap controversy has thrown the government onto the defensive at a time when it is under attack on a number of fronts, particularly over the independence of the judiciary and the prevalence of so-called "money politics," a Malaysian euphemism for political corruption.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

It is Malaysia Inc's mystery company, a state-owned investment house few seem to want to talk about, much less know about. Rare is the Malaysian who has ever heard of it, knows who comprises its board, the background of its senior management or, indeed, knows much of what it actually does. It doesn't have a website, and telephone calls to its notional head office go unanswered.

Having any sort of meaningful contact with its elusive executives is near as painful as pulling teeth, as calls, emails and questions go begging, unreturned and unanswered.

When one does actually make contact with the company, which sits at the intersection of Malaysia's top-level business and politics, its response is one of hostility, to threaten legal action. Even though it is owned by a Malaysian public anxious to know how its money is being handled, its message seems patently clear; stay well away.

Welcome to the secretive world of ValueCap Sdn Bhd, which was forced in late February to extend the maturity date of its US$2.7 billion in bonds for another three years. ValueCap was conceived in 2002 as a Malaysian version of Hong Kong's Tracker Fund, a powerful device to support the stock market. Three Malaysian government enterprises are behind Valuecap; the main state holding company Khazanah, the state pension trust fund KWSP (EPF), and the government's fund management arm, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

But with funds equal to only around 1 percent of the Malaysian stock market capitalisation compared with the HK fund's $30 billion war chest, ValueCap seems a poor relation to its northern cousin at the very least, and particularly underfunded at such a tremulous time in the world economy.

But after operating under the radar for most of its six-year history, in recent months ValueCap has had an unwelcome spotlight trained on it by Malaysians wanting to know more about what their government does. Unused to public scrutiny, the company late last year was debated and attacked in a parliament suddenly full of new opposition faces after last March's elections which, though won by the long ruling Barisan Nasional ruling coalition, saw the government's invincibility disappear when it lost more than a third of the seats. Now every aspect of government is under scrutiny, and the bureaucrats don't seem to like it very much. Indeed, it is becoming a particular problem for Prime Minister-designate Najib Tun Razak, who last November took over the finance ministry, the portfolio ultimately responsible for ValueCap.

The gathering controversy at Valuecap stems from recent revelations that it was supposed to make good a RM5.1 billion bond repayment to its original shareholders by February, returning the money that was seemingly the capital that Valuecap began life with in 2003. Where that gets messy is that the government acknowledged in October that ValueCap would receive a RM5 billion ‘loan' from Malaysia's Employee Provident Fund, which has RM330 billion under management. The government insists the EPF loan is unrelated to the delayed ValueCap bond repayment, and assures that ValueCap is viable. After a spirited November debate in Malaysia's parliament, deputy finance minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop pledged that the RM5 billion EFP loan would not be used to pay off ValueCap's loans.

As scant information dribbles out about Valuecap, rousing suspicions of a bailout - strenuously denied by the government – Malaysians now want to know more about what's going on inside this mystery outfit.

But their problem is the government and its state investment agencies seem intent on not saying much at all. ValueCap resolutely refused to make available details of its portfolio, how it is managed, who advises it or even the resume of its chief executive officer, Sharifatu Laila Syed Ali. Nor will either of its 33 percent shareholders – Khazanah, KWSP and PNB - disclose any details about their status in the ValueCap fund or what, if any, returns they have received from their six year investment.

Inquiries to all four institutions directly responsible for ValueCap hit a circular brick wall. Khazanah spokesman Mohamed Asuki bib Abas said "Valuecap has their own management team and Khazanah as a shareholder could not respond to you on their behalf." Over at PNB, spokesperson Rosli Ismail said that "with regards to the subject matter, we regret to inform that we decline to comment. C'est la vie." It was the same at KWSP. "Unfortunately we are not in position to comment on Valuecap," said its spokeperson.

At ValueCap itself, the response was curiously hostile. "We have strict instructions against disclosing pertinent information of the company," company secretary Husna Hafiza Mohammed said. "We would not hesitate to take any legal action against you ...for any misrepresentations made."

So why all the secrecy? After all, it was Asia's crippling 1990's financial crisis that now prompts Malaysia Inc into claiming that it is going out of its way to be a paragon of transparency and corporate governance, operating under so-called ‘world's best practices.' Indeed, in a 2005 interview with Euromoney, Khazanah's managing director Azman Mokhtar boasted of a new era in transparency and openness at Malaysia's big sovereign wealth fund.

These are baseless claims as the event took place on private property and adhered to the rules. Also yesterday Suara Keadilan and Harakah were banned by the Home Ministry without any justification. These events only too starkly remind us of the cruel and authoritarian style of leadership under which Malaysians suffered for many years. The police force has become a band of marauders. The press is muzzled and those who speak the truth about the abuses carried out by the ruling clique are arrested, beaten and bullied. The institutions of governance serve the interests of an elite clique which will exceed all boundaries of the law to retain power. A return to that era would be a disaster for this country and people of conscience around the world should condemn these unscrupulous actions. It is quite clear that despite his superficial offers for cooperation and bipartisanship, the olive branch which Najib Razak extended to the opposition early this month is really a dagger in disguise. So - after Ali Rustam, Norza Zakaria, the Class-F Contractor AGM, and then the Banning of Suara Keadilan and Harakah, that (the above FRU running amuck incident) was the Big news last night, with new further updates still pending as of mid-day today.
Obviously, Anwar is is gonna be "target practice" with every move he makes, and the PAS's man-with-a-mole on his left cheek and his short sidekick will be tempted by the devil with access to federal power. The little bird says that apparently, the short sidekick has already been offered a lucrative post, (and just like the FRU who wish to get a pat-on the back, for firing on peaceful men, women & children) he's salivating at the prospect of a powerful cabinet post like Pavlov's dog.
The best part of it all is the fact Mr. Mole & sidekick think that they are being very smart in doing this for a "higher cause & glory" and "rewards in the hereafter!!

It is definitely a prelude of things to come - after Perak, Selangor and Kedah are now in great danger of being sabotaged through the various instruments of state. The DAP in Penang meanwhile, although will survive, will be probably be faced with some element of "subversive activity not amounting to violence".

Obviously, we are seeing a new phase of authoritarianism in a Malaysia which espouses the Mahathirist "Asian Values" of "Daddy knows best". No effort will be spared to corrupt into submission, anybody and everybody who does not fall in line. Resistance to Umno has to be Futile, and failure to achieve this is not an option.
What we are seeing is a "class-war" (if not "civil war") in the making - probably 10yrs down the line - unless of course the corruption offered by Umno is rejected unanimously by the people. The Raja-raja Melayu should also seek greater legitimacy from the people instead of Umno, so as to kill the seeds of widespread social unrest which is now being planted by the corrupt.

In the coming days, we will be seeing a new brand of "debonair leadership" under the Najib regime. The "Mahathir clean" Muhyiddin will be the No.2, and Mahathir Jr. will be the next "firebrand" groomed to ascend a hierarchy, so as to perpetuate a political dynasty which screams out loud- "honour among thieves" and "let's plunder & rape".

Despite the fact that there is an urgent need to salvage the instruments of state by holding Umno together (vis a vis BN), it is shameful that they have to resort to totally "Mugabe tactics" at every turn. such is the state of affairs in a Government which dishes out "Class-F contracts" at every elections (not to mention the heavy requirement of Police presence).

Speaking of elections, on top of the fact that tear gas which is finally finding its role in this Malaysian brand of democracy, the "independant" Elections Commission has also found an "unblushing" new role as a Government agency.
Of course - it is in the interest of "national in-security", so as to maintain the role of pirates in Najib's RM7b, then RM60b package which he flashed lately. It is now made clear for all and sundry that the EC's role is to perpetuate this, while pretending to be the guardian of democracy for the ignorant proletariat which the aristocracy despises.
Najib of course did flash his smaller RM3.2b package to Class-F contractors lately - but that's a different story.

He neither denied nor acknowledged the allegation nor was he the least embarrassed about its disclosure.

In fact, there were those from the BN who even responded by asking, "What is wrong with it?"
