The Racist's "Reasonings".

*********************************************

Bigotry is the disease of ignorance, of morbid minds; enthusiasm of the free and buoyant. Education and free discussion are the antidotes of both.
-- Thomas Jefferson

"For them you are racist only if you talk about Malays and their need to catch up with other races."
"If you talk of the imagined plight of other races in Malaysia, and make ridiculous statements that the Tamil Indians in Malaysia are facing “ethnic cleansing” when you know that no such thing is happening, it is not racist."
- Mahathir Mohammad (CheDet.com)

The above two cartoons taken from the website above is actually very significant with regard to what I wish to write. .
Although they refer to the American state of affairs, the same ideas are propagated by apologists of Racism in Malaysia.
These cartoons were first put up on this blog in my entry on 22/04/08 entitled, Racism, Makkal Sakthi, HINDRAF and ISA.
In it, I had criticised the racist nature/platform of Hindraf's struggle, although legitimate the reasons may be. The racist would definitely jump at the opportunity to use racism as a defense against the charge of being a racist - an sure enough, "the old dog" has used it in his!

Waytha, Uthaya - somebody seems to love your ideas, and he thinks people followed you blindly to rebel! I guess you could say the same about him too .... you're now the benchmark that he seeks to emulate in his "statesmanship", anyways - Bravo!!!

How low can one go?
When it comes to "gutter politicians", they can never go low enough, apparently!
As the "defense" puts it, "If I'm racist, what about them?"
It was precisely the argument that was anticipated in writing the piece on Racism & Hindraf. So predictable these racists are, aren't they?

This man however has upped the ante, though - he claims that the grievances of Malaysian minorities are purely imaginary!
What he argues to say is, so what if the people cannot accept the racism and bigotry of the education/ economic system, "Ketuanan Melayu" is so very justified in churning out mediocrity and billionaire pseudo-entrepreneurs who leech on the people!
That is what makes them "Tuans" - the ability to leech off the "Nons".
He cannot deny this fact, as it was he who admitted that the the Chinese pay most of the taxes that these "Tuans" leech on. They leech with glee, via artificially inflated costs of all products of GLCs in the market (through negotiated contracts classified under OSA), indirectly taxing the people - Malay "Tuans" in the kampungs and on the street included, mind you.

How can you be the "tuan" if you don't drive the economy, he asks.
All I can say is, you'll drive nothing if you don't know how to drive your own car, buddy!
You don't want your people to be able to "drive or repair their own cars", but complain when "the driver" demands a million bucks (while wearing a grimy Pagoda t-shirt) to get it going in good order from A to B - so that you guys feel like "Tuans" in your Gucci suits!!!
What matters apparently is, that you get to feel like a Tuan - so that you can keep whining and arguing that unless you subjugate & steal from the driver, you cannot really be the "tuan".
Seeking a solution by learning to drive, doesn't figure in this guy's equation at all!

He feels it is "inferior" to drive a car for someone, even if you take pride in your job!
Speak of a perverted sense of insecurity or an inferiority complex - Sheeesh ...... you're such a snake-oil peddlar masquerading as a Doctor. Or plain demented.
Only thing left to say is - shame on you TUAN!
The saddest part of it all is, this guy honestly believes that he's right! To make matters worse, he has some die-hard zombies who believe in this rhetoric.

It is also his warped sense of logic that says the people reject the Malay language - His first entry in his blog was in English. Speak of the Pot and the Kettle .....
Why would I wanna speak the language of the race that discriminates others & demands to be respected as tuans, instead of earning it, anyway .....

He wouldn't admit that the education system he boasts about has alienated communities and driven a wedge between them. He asks if there are other nations having vernacular education - with the practice of meritocracy in education, there would hardly be any need for it, Dear Sir! It was the insecurity under racists that created a demand for it.

The vernacular education of Malaysia is a legacy of the colonialism and the NEP/ " racist social contract". It served to isolate people into their own psycho-social ghettos, and thus make them conveniently vulnerable to the racist agendas practiced by certain elitist administrations.

There has been no effort on part of the Kutty Administration to integrate education systems and practice meritocracy in their 22 yrs in office.
Racism and 'religiosity" was used and abused to the hilt, to discriminate against those deemed unworthy, by virtue of Race or Religion.
Its strengths (I speak of Mandarin schools only - the Tamil schools are write-offs, anyway) have been enhanced, due to the mediocrity of the Malay medium education that has been infused with racism and bigotry. People flock to the Chinese/ Mandarin school, simply becos the system in the Sekolah Kebangsaan stinks - and you gotta be a "genius", to even ask why many don't wanna speak Malay!
This "gutter politician" polarized the people, and made them regard another "race" as "the enemy" - just as he does now!
That's RACIST! And he still has the audacity to ask if he's racist ........

Here is a system he propagated and justified in the name of "Ketuanan Melayu", that has corrupted the society into resigning itself to Racist policies, wherein anything that one does in the civil service/ government, one has to be subjected to the humiliation of racial and/or religious profiling.
People are humiliated every day through rejection.
This has evolved into resentment and anger (not to mention migration of the cream, while attracting the neighboring scum instant bumiputras).
Does one need to wonder why people even resent anything that preaches "Ketuanan Melayu"?
People don't "hate everything Malay", as he wants you Malays to believe - only the stupid idea that a pseudo-bumiputra Moron has to be "tuan" or get preferences/privileges simply becos of his skin or creed, after 35 yrs of "level playing fields". (No wonder he loves Mugabe, huh?)

He even goes so far as to criticise the 'west', prolly meaning OZ-land, (wonder why not the Jews as usual) about how they treat their "indigenous" people, without really taking a good look in the mirror. (He's forgotten - probably Alzheimer's - about the predicament of the real Malaysian indigenous tribes, obviously). I'm certain any Sabahan or Sarawakian or the pribumi of W.Malaysia will have something to say about that ...
As usual, he needs to paint others black to make himself look white - the hallmark of one with deep-seated "inferiority complex" or insecurity.

It is sad that he has to even ask if he's racist at all, in comparison to another man who stood up for the downtrodden, for nothing in return.
Going on about this demented geriatric is rather tiresome and repetitive.
The way I look at it, he isn't even half the man I thought he was ..... I've given up on this guy.

"A rattlesnake, if cornered will become so angry it will bite itself.
That is exactly what the harboring of hate and resentment against others is
- a biting of oneself.
We think we are harming others in holding these spites and hates, but the deeper harm is to ourselves."
-- E. Stanley Jones

Note:
Let it be known that I bear no hatred to the person concerned.
The ideas he'd advocate though, are quite despicable
- hence the harsh tone of the above words I've used.
I apologize for not updating my earlier piece as promised.
It's just that I was so disgusted with this Racist in his winter years,
that I had to say something on his perverted logic.

The future UMNO (Baru )Leadership

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Credibility should be the key consideration in determining who will be nominated to vie for Umno’s three vice-presidential posts in the party’s December polls, writes ZUBAIDAH ABU BAKAR
"WHAT qualities should an Umno vice-president possess?
There are no set criteria."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The following has been copied from MT for this entry, which I had intended to update. However, upon completion, it was noted that save a few comments, it was very much as below. I have there fore decided to publish the following which I believe has been well written, and forego my piece.

Umno talent pools and think tanks

The tragedy of Umno, it would seem, has been the lack of intellectuals from the beginning, observes our special correspondent. Umno has never been known to engage in the battle of the mind to solve political, social and economic problems. Umno’s solutions to national problems have always been perceived to be cosmetic.

ALIRAN

When people in advanced countries talk about talent pools and think tanks, they refer to the collective brainpower of intellectuals with a great capacity to think rationally and analytically and find creative and imaginative solutions to problems. They demonstrate pure intellect at work, uncoloured by bias and prejudices.

If one places the so-called Umno talent pools and think tanks beside them, some may conclude that they are literally empty! It is almost three months since 8 March and Umno is clueless about what hit them. Their analysis is that Umno has not lost Malay support, that the Chinese deserted the MCA and Gerakan, and Indians withdrew their support for the MIC and PPP. They claim that Umno had no part in the loss of non-Malay support for BN. This is apparently the analysis of Umno’s clueless clods, “headless chicken running around” (to borrow Raja Petra’s description) who help the party to live in a state of denial.

The tragedy of Umno, it would seem, has been the lack of intellectuals from the beginning. Tunku could not seriously be considered one though he had other admirable qualities. He was a man of honesty and integrity and a true nationalist and patriot. Razak and Hussein Onn could be a bit so but they were caught up in the Umno web of racism and religious bigotry. Therefore, Umno has never been known to engage in the battle of the mind to solve political, social and economic problems. Umno’s solutions to national problems have always been perceived to be cosmetic.

If we examine past and present living Umno leaders it would reveal their apparent lack of intellect. Whatever IQ Dr M has, it would not permit what is perceived to be his warped mind to rise to be a true Malaysian and a genuine patriot. He had this fallacious belief that only elected people could speak on behalf of the rakyat and no one else. So he successfully destroyed every independent institution – the judiciary, the ACA, the Election Commission, the Registrar of Societies, the trade unions and so on.

His brain could never grasp the difference between party and government. The civil service, the police and other coercive apparatus of the state, RTM, the print media and government agencies became tools of the government. To him, the Constitution was a mere piece of paper to be shredded at his autocratic will. He armed himself with draconian laws like the ISA,the OSA, the UUCA, the Printing Presses and Publications Act and a whole host of repressive laws, not subject to judicial review.

The 1983 Constitutional amendments took away the powers of the Agong and his brother rulers. The 1988 Constitutional amendment successfully destroyed the secular democratic nature of the 1957 Constitution.

Under him corruption galloped while nepotism, cronyism, and bootlickers galore flourished. He was the monarch of all he surveyed and few dared to question his autocratic rule and consequent abuse of power. A grateful nation, however, bestowed a Tunship on him for his meritorious service!

His vindictive and revengeful nature has come into full play. He wants to get Abdullah to step down from the helm of Umno, a party, which despite his mixed origin, gave him and his children power, wealth and popularity. He laid the foundation for the tsunami. I have no doubt that had he been PM on 8 March, he would have lost the Federal Government to the Pakatan Rakyat.

A brief resume of some of the current Umno cabinet members will bring into question their quality:

  • Abdullah Badawi – made so many glorious promises but his performance has been dismal. Only someone with precious little intelligence will screw up the huge mandate the rakyat gave him at the 2004 polls. His choice of cabinet ministers shows lack of IQ and wisdom.

  • Najib – contributed substantially to the tsunami. He often speaks with a forked tongue and his racist and bigoted talk about Ketuanan Melayu no longer sells. Do not link him to any Mongolian woman lest you should face sedition charges. When will Umno accept the fact that he is a liability?

  • Keris-kisser Hishammuddin - did not possess the IQ to know how badly his keris-kissing and threatening words would affect the non-Malays and non-Malays. Another clear liability.

  • Nazri – the Minister of Law in the last government, is a disgrace. He did not know that there was no Witness Protection Act! Only a fool like him would say that the separation of powers among the judiciary, legislature and executive is a luxury that Malaysia cannot afford. When the Bar Council talked about the crisis in the judiciary, his response, “What crisis?” When the PM appointed the Royal Commission to investigate the Lingam Video Clip, it was a slap on his face. His statement that Singapore is not a country was laughable. A non-country got the island, we got the rocks, eh!

  • Tengku Adnan – implicated seriously in the Lingam scandal, is in the Cabinet. The Royal Commission did not buy his stupid answers because they were obviously convinced he was lying. He does not have the IQ or decency to quit the Cabinet until he is cleared.

  • Tan Sri Muhammad – perceived by some as allegedly corrupt, immoral and a currency smuggler brought into the Cabinet through the back-door. Abdullah Badawi’s choice of him is mind-boggling.

  • Rais Yatim – his PhD thesis was a severe attack on the ISA; but when he was recycled into the Cabinet by Dr M, he supported the ISA fully. He claimed that his thesis was merely an academic exercise. So much for the man’s principles, honesty and integrity.

  • Azalina – despite the mess she made of Brickendonbury and CYC, was appointed into the Cabinet.

In other countries people recycle garbage, but in Malaysia, Umno recycles political garbage – people seen as discredited, discarded and disgraced politicians. Like Dr M, Abdullah Badawi knows full well such recycled politicians will forever be grateful boot-lickers. People like Tan Sri Muhammad and Rais Yatim are two classic examples.

Outside the Cabinet, there are outstanding examples whose lack of brainpower contributed to the tsunami.

  • Khairy – proves quite often that he is an `ox’-head graduate. His influence-peddling severely damaged the BN and his father-in-law. His political stupidity exposed the BN to insult and ridicule in Parliament. It is widely believed that he provided the Minister with the supplementary questions which further revealed his lack of political maturity.

  • Bung Mokhtar – Despite the appeal from the women’s groups not to select sexist MPs to be candidates for the election, Abdullah Badawi chose him. He comes across as someone surely bocor in the head.

  • Tengku Razaleigh – a discarded politician is trying to resurrect himself and is now co-operating with his once arch enemy. Remember, Dr M and Rahmat effectively used RTM to destroy his credibility by flashing every few seconds an image of him wearing a Kadazan head gear with a supposedly Christian cross and dancing with Kadazan girls? Dr M had donned the same head gear earlier and danced gleefully with Kadazan damsels! How could Razaleigh now work with him?!

  • Toyo – questions regarding his alleged corruption and abuse of power are legendary. How much IQ and judgement must he possess to announce that he will ensure ‘zero’ opposition in Selangor. Now a hero has become zero!

  • Mukhriz – ably supporting his father to undermind Abdullah Badawi. He aspires to be PM one day. Any takers for another 22 years of Mahathirism?

  • Rahim Tamby Chik – infamous for his alleged statutory rape. Now he is offering himself as a Umno Vice-Presidential candidate. Given his wealth, influence and the fact that Umno politics is essentially money politics, there is a possibility of his becoming PM.

  • Ali Rustam – his stupidity in saying that Umno does not need the support of the non-Malays to govern the country contributed to the tsunami.

  • Ghani - superior leader of a “superior race”, has ruined the Johor environment and turned a motorway into a waterway. Now, he has orchestrated his Umnoputra cronies to say that it was a mistake to have given citizenship to the Chinese and Indians.

Today and tomorrow (Friday), Umno Supreme Council members are on a retreat – what an apt labelling of their meeting. Umno is so badly damaged it is reeling and retreating. It is almost three months since 8 March and Umno is clueless about what hit them. Thus far, because their analysis is so horribly wrong, their solution is marshalling Malay support and frightening Malays into believing that non-Malays are taking over Tanah Melayu and that the Malays have lost political power – a downright lie as there are more Malays in this Parliament than the last one! There is no end to Umno talk about Malay polity and Ketuanan Melayu. Umno claims that non-Malays are questioning Malay rights and privileges and also insulting race, religion and the Malay rulers. The mini brains of the Umno leadership can only think of these as solutions to their declining political power!

An ex-Umno Minister of Education, an ex-Vice-Chancellor of USM, was a racist and implemented fully Islamo-fascist policies. Out of about 24 schools during his tenure, there was not a single non-Malay as Dean or Deputy Dean. A severe brain drain ensued and it was rumoured that promotion of his cronies was done on the golf course! Though USM stands at well past the 300 mark in world university rankings, he praised himself for taking the university to great heights. He further said that he earned praise and congratulations worldwide in making USM a centre for R&D. Yet the same USM did not want to participate in the Hamburg Exhibition at which the world’s best universities were represented. USM’s sideboards are filled with medals and trophies from Geneva! Yet, he said (in self-praise), “But I cannot find my failure here. It would be interesting if anybody can give me one and why it is the greatest failure for me.” This about sums up Umno’s blindness to reality. The retreat will at best be a sandiwara, at worst a goon show!

The "Secular" Controversy

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Had Allah willed He could have made you all one community? But He made you as you are (diverse) as a test. So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah you will all return, and He will then inform you of the meaning of differences within you."

[Quran 5:48].

"Many of our perceptions are distorted by our prejudices, particularly if we perceive those prejudices to be convictions".
-
Ravi Zacharias

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

There is this constant "threat" of a spiritual war - at least in their minds.
In their fervour, the "religious right" never tire of debating on these matters.
These "necessary wars" go on ad infinatum, ad nauseaum, so as to keep the "fire of God" burning in the hearts of men.
Of late there have been a few articles published in Malaysia Today, catering to this debate - controversies starting with the Hijab, scarf, "sexy" school uniforms , and then the question of the "secular state".

Let us take the Malaysian political climate into consideration.
Here is a "Pakatan" at it's infancy (not a formal coalition, in the real sense of the word - they don't even have a common symbol or identity as yet) that is trying to achieve a paradigm shift in our political structure.
There are two stumbling blocks for this pact, towards achieving unity in purpose.
One is the question of "the secular state" - a tussle between the staunchly "secularist" DAP, and PAS - which is passionate about being Islamic.
The other is that of the agent provocateur on the sidelines who needs to dismantle this "pact", so as to perpetuate their racist/ religious hegemony in the interests of the "putra elite".

The debate about "Islamic State/ values" is the perfect tool to drive a wedge between the parties mentioned above, and have no doubt in my mind that it would be used to the hilt by the agent provocateurs to achieve their goals. Is it possible that more of these controversies would be highlighted by the Putra-philes so as to jeopardize the "uneasy pact" of the "Pakatan Rakyat"?.

Anyway, although the "secular" spirit has been articulated in general in our constitution without specifically stating it, many have failed to understand and accept this fact. To many a staunch Muslim, "Secular" is a "four-letter-word" - at least, as they understand it.

The argument often brought about is that the Malaysian Federal Constitution does not say that Malaysia is a secular state. Those who espouse this argument, need to understand why the constitution is worded in such a way.

Allow me to quote from The Australian Achievement: From Bondage To Freedom by Dr. Mark Cooray
"The rule of law requires both citizens and governments to be subject to known and standing laws. The supremacy of law also requires generality in the law. This principle is a further development of the principle of equality before the law. Laws should not be made in respect of particular persons. As Dicey postulated, the rule of law presupposes the absence of wide discretionary authority in the rulers, so that they cannot make their own laws but must govern according to the established laws. Those laws ought not to be too easily changeable. Stable laws are a prerequisite of the certainty and confidence which form an essential part of individual freedom and security. Therefore, laws ought to be rooted in moral principles, which cannot be achieved if they are framed in too detailed a manner."

For one thing, DAP needs to articulate what it means to be a "Secular State". They need to be able to articulate their ideas, so as not to alarm the "religious".
They need to be able to convince PAS and Islamists alike, that "secularism" isn't the "dirty word in Islam" (a popular notion in the Islamist's camp), that it is made out to be. For this to happen, DAP definitely needs to understand and relate to the philosophical basis of "secular humanism", Islam & the "Islamic politician's" psyche better, instead of simply "defining the constitution" and harping on the "secular state" rhetoric.
They need to have a think-tank who can articulate the idea that Islam is compatible with "secular humanism", as opposed to the stereotype perceptions.

There is a belief among the religious that "secular humanism" is "anti-God".Myths are created towards propagating these ideas while the achievements of "secularists" are conveniently ignored or belittled.

The advocates of theocracies need to understand that-

"Humanists are staunch supporters of freedom of religion, belief, and conscience, as laid out in both the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These rights protect the freedom of religious belief equally with the freedom of nonreligious belief, the freedom of religion equally with the freedom from religion.
Secular humanists would actually oppose advocacy of their worldview by schools or the government because that would violate the neutrality of a secular society, and the rights of religious believers. Secular humanists believe that a healthy society supports a variety of worldviews, just as it supports a variety of political parties. They also believe that religious and philosophical views should be every bit as open to debate and discussion as political beliefs."
-10 Myths About Secular Humanism

PAS on the other hand, needs to articulate their ideas on an "Islamic State" better.
One that can be inclusive in its ideas based on "Universal Values" (which are incidently, very Islamic), by not espousing arbitrary repressive laws that belonged to a different time, age and culture, which are supposedly "Islamic".
They should understand that resigning one's fate to "God-ordained" laws without sufficient intellectual debate or consensus, isn't an option in this era of ICT.

It is ironic that there are many prominent Islamic thinkers who believe that the philosophical/moral/ethical premises of the Constitution of USA is far more "Islamic" and superior than that of many a "chest-thumping Muslim" nation of the OIC - and rightfully so, too.
Academic debate on these matters at our hallowed halls of educational excellence is however, quite constipated at best (and we have the HP6 ideologues of our nation to thank for that) - usually dwelling on "accepted ideals".
These topics are deemed too "sensitive" - just as mentioning "May 13" was, not so long ago (unless it was to threaten for votes, of course). Our leaders believe that the masses are simply incapable of civilized conduct, and would foam at their mouths with the first mention of any misconception.

PAS should be aware that the lack of open inter-faith dialogue and exagerated sensitivities help "those with vested interests", in demonizing PAS in the eyes of the non-Muslims. It aids them further, should the masses
remain in ignorance and get emotional in response to perceived insults, without rationally addressing their fears and insecurities.
It is a formula for governance that has worked well over the centuries for the despotic regimes of theocracies, monarchies and many a pseudo-democracy or socialist state.
Therefore, one would do well to pay heed to what Voltaire meant when he said :-

“So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannise will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.”

Therefore, what matters isn't really the populist rhetoric of politicians advocating "virtuous" systems of governance (based on debatable ideas deemed "holy"), but the well defined and thought out set of progressive values and ideas that allow for freedom and embraces humanity as a whole, in all its diversity.

"It will not do to cling to the cause and wish the result away.
Reality does not play mind games.
What is more, to anesthetize the mind in order to abort what comes to birth
when wrong ideas are conceived and borne in the womb of culture,
will only kill the very life-giving force of the nation that nurtures the idea."

-------------------------------------------------

PAS member Ismail Wan Teh, asked the former PM if he would take the lead. Dr Mahathir said the question sounded like a dare and said he would quit.
(Sounds more like an opportunist's response to the floor, so as to execute a plan for a sympathy trip, though).
As a result, there's a new show in town, and it's a real screamer too!
(Click Here to go to the Homepage - never mind .... just Google "Chedet.com". You'll somehow get there.) Apparently, the soundtrack will be on sale soon, and as a sneak preview,
here's the cover-
In fact, it is so "hot" right now, there have already been Four sold-out shows in the last 2-3 days alone!
Rumour has it, there's gonna be a fan club and the badge is gonna be plagiarised from that of this imageor even this.

There is one other Diaper-boy who also has gone on a blog-blitz to cry wolf (the star of the show is a called "Mad-hias Chang" - an expert on all things known to mankind).

All these dramatics may just be a "diversion tactic" from the issues at hand, by the old man, so as to steal away the thunder (or C4 ...).
For that to happen, one needs to create a bigger and better show.
Attempts at garnering the support of bloggers was launched with the help of some lackeys' write-ups and invitations to the Perdana whatever foundation - that didn't work.
Some "daddy's boy" tried a "che det" ala '69 ... but it didn't work either!
Then he boldly decides to jump the blogwagon along with other Toyols, Ketams and M&Ms, to go where no scum has gone - and that was a disaster!
With options depleted, a "Kuli ala '88", had to work - and voila .... what a thunder it was. The media was swept off their feet, and bloggers all joined in the fun!
Only, no lightning came after that thunder ........ but the simpletons start clamoring, as if they lost their rice bowl (which was empty anyway). (Refer to Hitler's quote below).

It is not known if the letter of resignation has been drafted or submitted as yet.
There are some individuals who offer to "talk to Mahathir" so as to C4 this idea of his to quit. (Maybe he can be the glue to hold it all together .... and score some points of virtue).
Mu-kris doesn't seem to subscribe to daddy's "wisdom", anyways (at least not yet - Mr. Zany does!). Not when he stands a good shot at the "leadership hierarchy", when Mr. Chris-Sham doesn't want to contest in this year's beauty peagent. This way, he can at least help dispel the notion that he's "daddy's boy". He actually thinks people are hard-up for his insignificant presence - he goes around giving threats to Pak Lah! He probably wants to provoke them into expelling him so as to create fireworks (which I doubt will work).
Most party stalwarts, hotshots, moles or cronies (except some geriatrics) don't seem to think this show is worth the effort.
Either that, or somebody just wants to play both the front and backdoor, so as to keep as many avenues/gutters open.

There's this strange feeling I get, that there'll be plenty talk about "Malay unity" soon, to enhance and fertilize the siege mindset.
People will talk, with plenty of dramatics, wayang and posturing - and then as if like magic, everybody will jump into bed to kiss and make up once again.
All for "bangsa, agama, dan negara".

All the contracts and the nation's wealth tied up with the Umno Baru aristocratic hierarchy is a different story, okay. Those can only be wrangled about in private, and we cannot talk about it - lest we be charged under OSA, ISA, PPPA.
Those are the only acts that the common man should know.
Umno aristocrats have other acts to work on, "in the interest of the people".
(Once again, for more information refer to quotes above and below...)

On the matter of the Lingam Tape RCI report, Mahathir has made a claim that implied that the post of the CJM is equal to that of any other ministerial or government post, in that many people came to lobby for these posts.
He also claims that he wasn't aware that judges who lobbied were commiting any wrongdoing.
He also said that Vincent Tan and Tengku Adnan never lobbied in this controversy.
So it appears that in Mahathir's eyes, only the Legal fraternity is guilty, and nobody else!!
Mahathir seems to hate all the judges and lawyers - all except his lackeys (?Eusof Chin, Fairuz, Lingam, Mathias and their ilk).
Ms Ambiga - over to you .....

Malaysia Kini:-
Mahathir quits Umno

Former Umno president Dr Mahathir Mohamad today announced that he was quitting Umno with immediate effect and urged other members to emulate him.

He also called on all Umno ministers, deputy ministers and all levels of party leaders to join him in quitting the party.

"Wait 'till Abdullah quit as the prime minister and party president and then we can return to Umno," he said.

This is what Shahrir had to say:
"Certainly it is not helpful or constructive to the struggle of Umno right now," he said.

And Kuli:

"When and if I felt I had failed in my effort, then I would make up my mind on it (decision to quit or not)," he said.

=========================

About time I would say ....
These are interesting times indeed - and desperate situations require desperate measures.
So typical of this sensationalist opportunist!
However, this must be taken with a pinch of salt - the announcement was after being challenged by the floor. and he hasn't drafted the letter at press time!
Moreover, we all know how he quit being PM,
only to be back in the
driver's seat for another doggone year!

What took him so long, anyway?
He should also give up all the titles (especially the Tun-ship) - that would be real sweet of him .....
This time he's really scraping the bottom of the barrel, for support that makes a difference!

Look at this man - he's willing to destroy a party that has been the bulwark of the nation for a generation, just as he had no qualms about destroying the UMNO of Onn Jaafar.
He's willing to play the Race Card, bring down the govt, destabilize the nation and create problems - even abandon his "baby"- just becos he wants an uprising that he can capitalize on.
All for an agenda that does not have appeal anymore within the party leadership, or the Malay grassroots in general!

He should've done this long ago, instead of barking and sabotaging the corruption that the party had espoused and nurtured so lovingly, since the time he created it.
After repeated and desperate attempts at garnering support (including playing the race card) in a Game of High-stakes Poker, The Big Daddy of UMNO Baru - Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamed, decides to Quit his No.00001 membership!
(I really wonder if it had anything to do with the Lingam Tape)

"Wait 'till Abdullah quit as the prime minister and party president and then we can return to Umno," he said.

If the Malay community were to follow suit, and weaken Umno Baru, it would be his perfect opportunity to start his rhetoric about Malays not having political power/ leadership, and thus, another 5.13 of sorts.
This is a simple message that is repeated over and over again. Just as Hitler would've recommended when he said,
"All propaganda has to be popular, and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach."
This racist and hate-based rhetoric appeals a great deal to the "dispossessed Malay" of the land (read UMNO Baru), which is also his creation, for without Mahathir as the "sugar-daddy", they're all goners with nothing to fall back on.
The crap about Chinese and Indians questioning Malay rights is the whole load of hogwash that he used in 1969 for 5.13 prior to his expulsion.
He believes that all Malays become powerless, should he lose power!
He thinks he IS the Malay of all time, despite being half Malayalee/ Kaka!
This guy is simply hungry for power - and his belly can never be filled enough.
He never wanted to give up power, but the cobwebs of his rule were showing, and he simply needed to get out quickly for Pak Lah to be the fall-guy.

By doing this, he would indirectly "discredit" Kuli's campaign (who may not really want to quit), to contest at the Umno Baru AGM.
That would also leave him out in the cold - and it can't happen, as far as he's concerned.
Pak Lah is smarter in that - on the surface he ignores TDM and gives the "innocent & ignorant" facade. However in the background, his machinary is working full throttle to disgredit TDM and put him on the defensive. (Remember the RCI & leaked news?)
It is his way of purging Umno Baru of all elements of CheDetism and the cronies.

How I wish that he had been pretty open about the Judges that allegedly were "unethical" in their conduct, instead of being silent all these years. Being the perfect political opportunist that he is, maybe it is his way of nurturing the rot that he used to his benefit.
His admitted silence on these matters only serves to tarnish his already battered image of a disgraced and racist "statesman", and bring him much disrepute.
Why did he not reveal the names of these Judges, or get rid of them in the first place, instead of all the drama that he created?
One might wanna go back to Lingam and Vincent Tan on this ...

He should have just , and left AAB to his devices - that way he would've at least saved some face.
One would just wonder how much fight this old goat has, left in him.
Whatever said and done - Hats off to this old goat for being such a crafty fox, even at this age.

Some people say, the devil, hatred and greed are great driving forces that often keeps a person going, even if he's just a shadow or a shell of a man.

So the fireworks begin ..... let's see how many are willing to give up their rice bowl for the meteor shower of ideals that the MadHatter stands for!
Mahathir is now "wounded & cornered" - now he isn't gonna go down without a fight ..... and he'll fight like MAD!
Sigh .... kerana mulut, badan binasa ....

RCI Report on Lingam-gate Video

==========================
The concerned parties:-

Copies of the Royal Commission's report will be sold to the public as published and handed in to the King last Friday. However, the price has not been determined as yet.

Extracts from the report

On the authenticity of the video clip:

"In the final analysis, when all is said and done by the experts, both local and foreign, stripped off all the technical jargon that they used in their findings, when examined in the context of the direct or primary evidence of the maker of the video clip, coupled with that of the eyewitnesses, a simple question confronting the Commission can be posed in layman's terms: Is the video clip genuine, real, reliable or trustworthy and therefore authentic? We have no hesitation in answering in the affirmative." – page 45, paragraph 11.

On the identity of the person whom Datuk VK Lingam (DVKL) was speaking to over the phone:

"In our view, when the testimonies of DVKL and Tun Ahmad Fairuz, which consist essentiallyof bare denials, are examined against the direct evidence elicited from the phone conversation in the video clip as well as the evidence of two eyewitnesses and the circumstantial evidence alluded to above, an irresistable inference can reasonably be drawn, namely, that the person to whom DVKL was speaking on the other end of the phone was Tun Ahmad Fairuz. In the circumstances, having heard the submissions before us and having regard to the totality of the evidence adduced in the Enquiry, we are constrained to come to the conclusion that the identity of the other person concerned is none other than Tun Ahmad Fairuz." – page 52, paragraph 40.

On the identity of the "Chinese man" at the end of Lingam's phone conversation:

"The third part of the equation concerns the identity of the 'Chinese man' shown in the video clip conversing with DVKL. This was after DVKL had ended his phone conversation with Tun Ahmad Fairuz. On the evidence, we have no difficulty in coming to the conclusion that he is Mr Loh Mui Fah. The other personalities mentioned therein shall be identified in the course of our consideration on Term 3 of the Reference relating to the truth of the content of the conversation in the video clip." – page 52, paragraph 41.

On the parties who interfered with the appointment of judges:

"In the final analysis, having regard to the totality of the evidence and for the reasons stated, we are of the view that there was, conceivably, an insidious movement by DVKL with the covert assistance of his close friends, Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan, to involve themselves actively in the appointment of Judges, in particular, the appointment of Tun Ahmad Fairuz as the Chief Judge Malaya and subsequently as President Court of Appeal. In the process, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also entangled. That possibility was ominous when examined against the factual circumstances surrounding the rejection of Tan Sri Malek Ahmad as Chief Judge Malaya. Their ultimate aim or purpose could not be ascertained with exactitude, given the limitation under the Terms of Reference. It could be related to the fixing of cases, as submitted by Counsel for the Bar and others. Certainly, it is reasonable to suggest that it could not be anything but self-serving." – page 75 and 76, paragraph 99.

"In the circumstances, we are satisfied that the content of the conversation dealt with in the course of our analysis, contains the truth in substance and in material particulars." – page 76, paragraph 100.

On the impact on the judiciary:

"This issue has been satisfactorily covered in our Appendix (Detailed Analysis of Evidence). As such, we would adopt the content therein. We do not wish to regurgitate the details. It is sufficient for us to state here that the collective and cumulative actions of the main characters concerned, had the effect of seriously undermining and eroding the independence and integrity of the Judiciary as a whole." – page 76, paragraph 102.

On the recommended legal action to be taken:

"The fifth Term of Reference relates to what appropriate action or actions to be recommended. This issue is fully covered in our Appendix (Detailed Analysis of Evidence). As such we need merely adopt the recommendations therein." – page 76, paragraph 103.

"For the moment, we would state that there is sufficient cause to invoke the Sedition Act 1948, the Prevention of Corruption Act 1961, the Legal Profession Act 1976, the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Penal Code against some of the principal individuals involved. We do not discount the possibility of other laws being contravened. In any case, the findings have, at the very least, provided the catalyst for further investigations so that, hopefully, there would be complete transparency and full accountability. This is absolutely essential if we are to wipe out, once and for all, the stain of that remark once made by Mr. Justice N.H. Chan, in reference to the Judiciary, that 'Something is rotten in the State of Denmark'." – page 76 and 77, paragraph 104.

On reforming the judiciary:

"In the circumstances, we are of the view that there is an urgent need for the necessary judicial reforms to be effected by the relevant authorities. In this connection, the Malaysian Bar Council has urged the Commission to consider recommending to the Government the setting up of two bodies, namely (a) a Judicial Appointments Commission and (b) a Judicial Complaints Tribunal." – page 175, paragraph 3.

On the reasons for establishing a Judicial Appointments Commission:

"In the evidence before the Commission, two issues appear clouded. Firstly, the basis or criteria for the Chief Justice to nominate the candidates for appointment as Judges of the High Court including the Heads of various Courts (except the Chief Justice). Our concern here is that there is no established and discernible system or criteria in the selection process of Judges and their promotion. It therefore follows that the power to nominate the candidates to the various Courts if left entirely to the discretion of the Chief Justice. This subjective approach appears to have also operated in the minds of the Executive personages (i.e. the then Prime Minister and the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN)) and is a manifest structural weakness in the selection process." – page 177, paragraph 11.

"Secondly, from the evidence before the Commission, the meaning attributed by the then Prime Minister and KSN to the word 'consult' is so totally at variance with the ordinary meaning that they seemed to have thought it was equivalent to the word 'notify'. This would explain the Prime Minister's resort to the word 'prerogative' as a rationale for conducting himself the way he did. ..." – page 177, paragraph 12.

"Given the perception by Tun Mohd Dzaiddin (the then Chief Justice) that the then Prime Minister had the prerogative of rejecting his recommendation on the choice of candidates for appointment as Judges without assigning any reasons, it would appear that he (Tun Mohd Dzaiddin) did not find it appropriate or necessary to question the then Prime Minister further on the matter. He merely adopted what can be described as the 'Hobson's Choice' and accepted the nomination or suggestion made by the then Prime Minister. This presented an unsatisfactory scenario which might well have been avoided with the formation of a Judicial Appointments Commission." – page 178, paragraph 13.

Brain Drain and the Drained Brains.

====================================

We will have to repent in this generation
not merely for the hateful words
and actions of the bad people,
but for the appalling silence of the good people.

-- Martin Luther King, Jr

==============================

Dr. Hsu recently published an article entitled "Racial Politics and the Brain Drain" on his blog. Being a well written article, Malaysia Today published it too.
Rightfully, it has generated plenty of comments/ discussions.
No offense intended, Hsu - but I didn't really read the whole article properly - my humble apologies. I'm pretty certain that everything you said in it was the gospel truth - at least pretty close to that. None of it can be disputed, unless you're a supporter of the BTN agenda.

Not that what you mentioned isn't an urgent problem that's killing the Nation, but becos it is a known phenomenon which everybody in Malaysia has known for decades. It has been "urgent" for the last 30 years!
Ask Biro Tata Negara - they'll tell you as it is (You tak suka - keluar!).
In fact even that old goat TDM knew it all for sure when he propagated his brand of elitist, rich-man's "affirmative action", NEP (ie NDP).

This litany about "the brain drain" has been repeated for far too long by politicians who supported that old goat - not just Umno/Baru, but all the other member stooges in the BN coalition too.
It is good that many have now chosen to quit being lackeys, after the last GE.
These stooges in the BN coalition are equally guilty of the policies that has rendered Malaysia an economic backwater in comparison with nations like Singapore, Korea and Taiwan. If one were to take Sabah and Sarawak into the equation, were very much comparable to rural India, China, Pakistan and Vietnam .... maybe even Kenya, Uganda or Zimbabwe .

To all those who have been complaining about this phenomenon of "brain drain", and yet supported the Parties that sought to "work with" the old goat - I pity you for not pulling your heads out of the night-soil that you've subjected yourselves to.
Didn't these guys see that that is what BTN, UMNO, NEP, NDP, Gerakan, MIC, MCA, ABC and XYZ was all about?
It has been quite plain that this was the plan all along, and you guys thought that these "drained brains" were serious about stemming the outflow of human capital?
All that drama/propaganda blitz about encouraging Malaysian to return are just that - media hype and publicity stunts that actually open doors for more corruption, in a system that already stinks to the high heavens.

Wasn't it that spittle spraying lackey who was the Minister of Human Resources?
He has at last (after all these years) admitted being a beggar to the elite capitalist Malay bourgeoisie of the UmnoBaru clan!
Can you imagine what the implication of such a statement is?
It simply means that members of the coalition are all beggars, and are being cheated through and through. It also means that all the "chieftains" in the coalition have been cheating the beggars in the party, and the party has been cheating the beggars who supported them all these years!

They successfully camouflaged all their activities by subscribing and using the divisive and demeaning race/religion politics of UMNO, that reduced the people to "branded cows" in different holding pens.
Within these "holding pens" of race based political parties, the people had little freedom of choice, and are thus doomed to the slaughterhouse at the whim and fancy of the masters.
They have an agenda that makes zombies or monkeys out of their "proud and patriotic" supporters, while they are fed crumbs & slop within these pens.
It basically drains the brains from all their supporters, who are reduced to docile, insecure, begging zombies!
That is why, we have a bunch of morons who suggest Sex Education in NS boot camps, manned by horny ex-army personnel! Certainly, some of our "illustrious Ministers" with "impressive track records" can help with that, too .......
(Who knows - maybe these "brainiacs" think that it was the sex that made Sufiah Yusof blossom into a mathematical genius!)

The govt doesn't give a fig if the world or the citizens think they are idiots for letting go of the brains that they can't drain.
What matters to them is that the brains that remains, are drained for their benefit!
All that matters is that the brains that remain, make the pie from which the plunder can be executed, and taxation on this pie is shared among the elite cronies/ families via dubious projects/concessions.

Who gives a fig if the precious human resource is migrating .... it only opens more doors for the plunder to be perpetuated. Ask Mr. Spittle .... they have invested heavily on a future of/for Racism and Mediocrity!

Do they care if Malaysians die or get raped at the NS boots camps?
Hell - NO!! They can be C4ed for all they care ...

Why do you think the govt gives citizenship/ MyKad to scum of the earth from neighboring countries, but not the educated / spouses of foreign origin?
It is easier to to fool/plunder/rape these guys, or even C4 them into oblivion and get away with it - it's all as simple as that. The "scum" is no threat tto the "planned plunder", whereas the educated are.
These scum don't know the value of human rights - they only know their stomachs and their vice for the day, and that they should support the plunder for "ketuanan melayu" that their masters advise! Their needs are quite simple and the govt wishes it to be kept that way. They'll make do with the peanuts that they get, being the "grateful monkeys" that they are supposed to be.
This is what you call "Asian Values" which any despot loving politician like "that old goat" would defend.

Malaysia is the only country in the world that absorbs the scum of other nations while we "donate" precious intellectuals to other economies.
The govt prefers to keep the people stupid (hence the "Ketuanan Melayu" & NEP rhetoric), so that they can bleed the nation dry.

Meanwhile they work on the Malay ego and insecurity for political mileage.
They also promote politics of hate so as to enhance the sense of insecurity and create a "siege mentality" for "docile" (to their agenda of "rape" & corruption) Malay community, that would be content with a life of mediocrity filled with empty pride.

It is the perfect setting for the nation to be "colonised" once again - but this time, by using the "sovereign govt" of the day as a stooge.
But with the Oxfart idiots subscribing to the racist rhetoric running amok like "mat rempits" in the Parliament defending "Ketuanan Melayu" with their various definitions and spins, which "anak watan" is gonna complain?

Yes siree- To them, (as Lee Kuan Yew said) it isn't brain drain .... only "trouble drain". It is what they have wanted all along, Hsu - and that's the truth.

For any change to take place, for the Malaysian race to face the onslaught of globalisation, for the culture and heritage of Malaysia to survive, we don't have much of an option - UMNO and the BN-lackey culture of "Racism and Religiosity" has to go for good.

We need a whole new world of politics in Malaysia.
