The Anti-ISA Lobby- A HERO IS BORN!!!

We would like to remind Dr Mahathir that if he still has the intention
to abolish the ISA, we would like to invite him
to voluntarily participate with Suaram
and the Abolish ISA Movement (GMI)
to jointly support the demands of the people to abolish the ISA.

In the 1987 crackdown on Oct 27, 106 people -
mostly opposition leaders and a handful of MCA and Umno politicians -
were arrested under the ISA while the publishing permits for
The Star
, Sin Chew Jit Poh and Watan were revoked.

“The ISA must be invoked when necessary, but when I was the prime minister,
I wanted to abolish the ISA but the police were against it”

“I actually met all of the opposition members (beforehand)
and assured them that they would not be arrested.
And you know what the police did?
They arrested them. My credibility is gone"

He agreed with Plate that he was furious over what the police had done
to nab 106 people, including political dissidents, under the ISA in 1987.

What now, Egypt? "Islamic" Revolution?

"We can only succeed in Muslim societies if you are seen to be respectful
of the choice made by Muslims, or Egyptians in this case," Anwar said.

Is that so?
I seriously doubt it - it is the fallacy promoted by those with vested interests.

For now, Egypt has won "liberation" from Mubarak, but the question remains -
Do they have the means to handle the revolution?
Have they really won "freedom"?
Do they know how to use that freedom?
As in the French Revolution, they may be a spate of blood-letting before they settle down ....

Of course I support them in their efforts at liberation as I do with those in Malaysia- it will be an ongoing struggle (albeit, an upward one). It will remain so, as long as they have had their revolution for all the wrong reasons.

"We can only succeed in Muslim societies if you are seen to be respectful of the choice made by Muslims, or Egyptians in this case," Anwar said.
Is that so?
I seriously doubt it - it is the fallacy promoted by those with vested interests. What was so "Muslim" about the demand for Democracy? I seriously doubt that the Muslim Brotherhood subcribes to "Democracy" - unless it is with the intention of establishing an "Islamic State".
There has yet to be anything recorded in history which would attest to what Anwar said here- even taking into consideration the "Islamic Civilisation".

Ignorant societies can always fight for change- however, if they seek for the change without knowing how exactly to get it or base the struggle on the wrong premise, they have a very big problem ....
Freedom needs a few prerequisites for it not to descend into anarchy- first and foremost, they need an enlightened leadership which the people look up to, associated with an "infastructure" (philosophical/legal/intelectual/media) and a society which is able to comprehend the vision.

Most Muslim/third-world countries don't fulfill the criteria- not by a long shot. What it often results in is the nurturing of another despot/dictator. Religious/tribal laws for one thing are an impediment to progress.
Examples of it litter the history books- and this was a phenomenon prevalent in the Middle Ages of Europe/ Papacy. Ironically, they broke free from the yoke of the "Holy" Roman Empire, through the efforts of an enlightened Catholic monk- Martin Luther!
But today, 500 yrs on- Islam is going through that same phase .....

Syed Akbar Ali's "Malaysia and the Club of Doom" is a fine book to read on this matter - you will see why the rising Islamist fervour contributes to what I say.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_And_The_Club_Of_Doom
I somehow believe that many of the opinions expressed there would prove to be prophetic.

Allow me to take this argument to another level- when man seek out third-rate minds who study religion to be "instruments of God" to run his life for him based on legends and outdated polity, it means only one thing - he is "lost".
When a man is "lost", he becomes psychologically/emotionally vulnerable to indoctrination using "dogma"- they backward the minds go the more they subcribe to the rule of inferior minds from religious schools of thought. They are taught that all it takes is worship and allegiance/obedience to the third-rate minds of their religious masters for things to fall in place in this "evil and cluttered world". They are indoctrinated to believe that supremacy of the clergy is the criteria for happiness and contentment and seats in heavenly abodes.
They are almost never told that there is no such thing as a utopia - man by nature is ever innovating, and is almost always discontented. It was precisely due to this reason that man has evolved to be intelligent beings as "God" intended man to be.

However, in most despotic authoritarian states, they seek to promote immitation and suppress this innovative streak in man. They promote "taqlid", and suppress "ijtihad" through religious edicts/cyclicals/indoctrination so as to prevent dissent.
At the same time, they'll tell the blunted minds of their followers that they have to be progressive but obedient to the state/godmen/God at all costs- to achieve "freedom & peace". At the same time, they have no qualms in waging war against those who do not conform .....
Their education/ "intellectual infrastucture" is often deliberately kept below par, so as to prevent their awakening. They are given easy access to "escape" through vice (drugs/crime/sex) so as to get relief from their frustrations & anger- while on the other hand, they'll tell you that it is all due to lack of religious observation/upbringing that these vices take place.
The media is deliberately restricted. The information they receive is often simplistic and distorted, if not downright stupid.
Then, when these stifled minds cannot comprehend the happenings of the real world, are unable to think and are lost for ideas- the clergy and politicians step in to advice them with simplistic solutions and give them the "comforts" they seek.

Do you see a striking parallel with what has been happening here in Malaysia over the last 30 yrs (just go to that "Valentine's Day Haram" Ustazah's FB discussion forums - you'll see many fans asking for miraculous "ayats" so that they can get this or that .... while she exploits them to market/peddle her wares/products)? Or many "Islamic" (and third world/African) countries for that matter ...

We await for our "Martin Luther" ....

Umno's Plan for an Muslim Sabahan Sultanate?

The installation of a planted UMNO operative as the "SULU SULTAN". Sabahans must understand the motives behind this installation.Akjan has been an UMNO operative all the while.A PTI himself,UMNO gave him a Malaysian MyKad for a reason,to secure the votes of the instant maggie mee bumiputra's that came to Sabah illegally.Sabahans must now go down to the grassroots and inform the kampong folks,Sabah is now under siege,UMNO/BN must be STOP at all cost,or all Malaysian Sabahans will be slaves of their own backyard. If you claim to be a true Sabahan, you will defend Sabah with every last drop of your blood, failing to do so,you are then in cahoots with the very people who are destine to destroy Sabah.I will defend Sabah with my life, are you prepared to do the same?

Sarawak 18 points agreement ....

The following is from DayakBaru - however
those emphasised (Points 8 & 9) are mine (
because, in the article,
those were the only points which weren't typed in bold).
Despite him not asserting anything, your's truly wonders
if the writer is implying that those are the differences/exceptions -
and hence makes Sarawak's deal with Malaya the 18-point agreement.

As usual, we are redirected to the "sacred texts" of Wikipedia for verification.
It is quite difficult for me to understand why nobody (from Semenanjung, Sarawak or even in the UK) is able to confirm/verify with valid references,
what exactly was in the 18-point Agreement ...

****************************************

Sabah 20 points / Sarawak 18 points agreement

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

For further information in regards to the related article, kindly refer to Wikipedia.

Dayakbaru:

The 20 point agreement / 18 point agreement is between made between TWO countries ( Malaya and Sabah / Malaya and Sarawak).

Such being the case, no changes can be made on the agreement without the consent of the other. In the case, they seemed to be effort by the Federal Government to put aside this agreement or even ignore this agreement as it gets their way of integrating Sabah and sarawak according to West malaysia UMNO point of views and political agenda.

Sabah and sarawak must NEVER give up on this agreement as it provides us with more autonomy. The founding fathers has the foresight to see the greed of West Malaysian and sadly for Sabah since UMNO has come in and rule Sabah it has lost most of its autonomy. sarawak should continue to fight to uphold the 18 points agreement. While working with PKR those leaders from sarawak MUST insist that Pakatan Rakyat respect and enforce the 18 point agreement when they do come into power.

Monitor and review the implementation of the agreement

The government of Sarawak may like to consider setting a monitoring and reviewing committee to consolidate the implementation status and audit the programme that has been set to comply with the agreement. That will help Sarawak Malaysian to understand how much has been done in respect to the 18 point agreement.

Probably it would be good initiative to trace this document back in the UK to find more detail on the intent, spirit, process and even minutes of discussion leading to the signing of these agreement.

A memorandum for House of Lord in UK

Where is the Cobbold commission report now – probably in UK too. Malaya would never want to show it because the result is 33% want Malaysia, 33% do not want Malaysia and 33% undecided. How they concluded that Sabah and Sarawak should join Malaysia based on the statistics only “Allah” know. The British has some explaining to do to both Sarawak and sabah. Maybe a memorandum should be sent to the House of Lord to ask for explanation on the matter.

What is the agreement all about?

The 20-point agreement, or the 20-point memorandum, is an agreement made between the state of Sabah (then North Borneo) with what would be the federal government of Malaysia prior to the formation of Malaysia in September 16, 1963. A similar agreement was made between the state of Sarawak and the federal government but with certain differences in their 18-point agreement

The agreement

Point 1: Religion

While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo

Point 2: Language

* a. Malay should be the national language of the Federation

* b. English should continue to be used for a period of 10 years after Malaysia Day

* c. English should be an official language of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) for all purposes, State or Federal, without limitation of time.

Point 3: Constitution

Whilst accepting that the present Constitution of the Federation of Malaya should form the basis of the Constitution of Malaysia, the Constitution of Malaysia should be a completely new document drafted and agreed in the light of a free association of states and should not be a series of amendments to a Constitution drafted and agreed by different states in totally different circumstances. A new Constitution for Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) was of course essential.

Point 4: Head of Federation

The Head of State in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should not be eligible for election as Head of the Federation

Point 5: Name of Federation

“Malaysia” but not “Melayu Raya”

Point 6: Immigration

Control over immigration into any part of Malaysia from outside should rest with the Central Government but entry into Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should also require the approval of the State Government. The Federal Government should not be able to veto the entry of persons into Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) for State Government purposes except on strictly security grounds. Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should have unfettered control over the movements of persons other than those in Federal Government employ from other parts of Malaysia Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah).

Point 7: Right of Secession

There should be no right to secede from the Federation

Point 8: Borneanisation

Borneanisation of the public service should proceed as quickly as possible.

Point 9: British Officers

Every effort should be made to encourage British Officers to remain in the public service until their places can be taken by suitably qualified people from Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 10: Citizenship

The recommendation in paragraph 148(k) of the Report of the Cobbold Commission should govern the citizenship rights in the Federation of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) subject to the following amendments:

* a) sub-paragraph (i) should not contain the proviso as to five years residence

* b) in order to tie up with our law, sub-paragraph (ii)(a) should read “7 out of 10 years” instead of “8 out of 10 years”

* c) sub-paragraph (iii) should not contain any restriction tied to the citizenship of parents – a person born in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) after Malaysia must be federal citizen.

Point 11: Tariffs and Finance

Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.

Point 12: Special position of indigenous races

In principle, the indigenous races of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should enjoy special rights analogous to those enjoyed by Malays in Malaya, but the present Malays’ formula in this regard is not necessarily applicable in Borneo(Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 13: State Government

* a) the Prime Minister should be elected by unofficial members of Legislative Council

* b) There should be a proper Ministerial system in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 14: Transitional period

This should be seven years and during such period legislative power must be left with the State of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) by the Constitution and not be merely delegated to the State Government by the Federal Government

Point 15: Education

The existing educational system of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should be maintained and for this reason it should be under state control

Point 16: Constitutional safeguards

No amendment modification or withdrawal of any special safeguard granted to Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should be made by the Central Government without the positive concurrence of the Government of the State of North Borneo

The power of amending the Constitution of the State of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should belong exclusively to the people in the state. (Note: The United Party, The Democratic Party and the Pasok Momogun Party considered that a three-fourth majority would be required in order to effect any amendment to the Federal and State Constitutions whereas the UNKO and USNO considered a two-thirds majority would be sufficient)

Point 17: Representation in Federal Parliament

This should take account not only of the population of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) but also of its seize and potentialities and in any case should not be less than that of Singapore

Point 18: Name of Head of State

Yang di-Pertua Negara

Point 19: Name of State

Sarawak or Sabah

Point 20: Land, Forests, Local Government, etc.

The provisions in the Constitution of the Federation in respect of the powers of the National Land Council should not apply in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah). Likewise, the National Council for Local Government should not apply in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah).

*Merger

In 1961, when the Malayan government began discussing a possible merger with neighbouring Singapore, Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei, problems of ethnic power relations arose again. The “Malaysia” proposal sans Sabah and Sarawak went back more than a decade; earlier negotiations had proved fruitless. The Singaporeans themselves were not anxious to be ruled by what they considered a Malay government. By 1961, however, Singapore had grown receptive to the idea of joining Malaysia, largely because of the prevailing idea at the time that industrial Singapore could not survive without access to Malayan markets.

Singapore Chinese population is a threat to Malaya

The Malayan government was not keen on having the Chinese Singaporean population push the Malays into a minority position in the new Malaysia. Many Malays felt that upsetting the Malay-dominated nature of the armed forces and police might place them in a dangerous situation. It was also argued that the inferior economic position of the Malays would be emphasised by the entry of even more rich Chinese, setting the stage for major discontent.

Malaya get Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia to make use of their native population numbers

The Malayans decided to resolve this by merging with Sabah and Sarawak; both British colonies had large native populations whom the government considered “Malay”. Under Article 160 of the Constitution, most of them were not Malay; the natives were mainly animists or Christians instead of Muslims as required. To resolve this issue, the government expanded its informal definition of “Malay” to include these people.

*The natives of Sarawak and Sabah are to be considered ‘Malays’ by the malayan union to solve their problems.. the ibans, the kenyahs, the bidayus, and etcs… My question is – is this true today or we from Sabah and sarawak being con / cheated by UMNO Malaya?

When Pariahs Interlok ....

If a book - by our National Laureate, no less - had to be amended
before it could be made mandatory reading in our school,
why the hell did we decide to use that book in the first place?
- Art Harun, ARTiculations.
========================

Precisely- if it had to be amended, then it doesn't qualify to be made a text book!!
It is simply unfit. Let it be because the Tamilian/Indian community isn't matured enough .... all the more reason!
So why then the love story of Muhyidin with Interlok?
Why is he so adamant? Now I'm beginning to get suspicious, and intend to scrutinise the book myself ..... maybe I'll try to buy the original version online.
Is there some agenda behind this?
Some subtle indoctrination perhaps?

Yes- there is nothing wrong with the book per se, since "it is only a Malay literary classic" littered with cultural, historical and geographical errors..... after all, the readers will know what a crappy piece of work it is when they do some Indian geography/history/culture studies (if they had a chance).

Of course- the book burning by the Indian/Tamilian NGOs was totally uncalled for- book burning is so passe & fascist.
However- as much as I may agree with your opinion on Interlok, and the hypersensitivity of many Tamilians over the word pariah for its negative connotations- in a way, I empathise with them.

Since Mahathir, they are the new underclass. They have been trampled on economically & socially during the Sami Value era- and are generally regarded as the underclass who are struggling to live with pride. For a very long time , they lived in their own world (so to speak)- everything was about being "Tamil". Tamil was Indian, and Indian was Tamil - despite not knowing
Many are regarded as social misfits who wouldn't stand for being laughed at. The incidence of school droputs, drug addiction, alcoholism, violence, crime, suicides, extra-judicial deaths and discrimination speak volumes towards confirming this.

Hindraf was an awakening- an "epiphany" of sorts ... towards achieving their aspirations as citizens with equal rights. It was an admission of their failures as citizens of Malaysia under the leadership of BN's MIC. In fact they are today regarded as the only failures among the Indian diaspora!!
Today, they therefore tend to see discrimination, insults and threats all around them- even where there are none.
Therefore- to them, that the word "pariah" in the book was contexual, is irrelevant. They do not complain that it won an award for the writer despite the writer's "brutal"/limited vocabulary for a "classic", ignorance of Indian geography or the readers thought it was a great book. (It beats me how they could consider a book littered with factual inaccuracies as a literary classic).

They cannot accept that the Ministry or Muhyidin is in love with the book, and forces it upon them- especially after all the derogatory comments passed against them children by the teachers. They do not trust a system which discriminates them. They do not trust the Education Ministry which hesitates to punished racists among the teachers.
So why should they accept a book (even if it is literature) which makes derogatory references to their ancestry? What guarantee is there that these racist teachers wouldn't use it to highlight the ancestry of the students today in a derogatory way?
What has the Ministry done to convince them that they're capable of using such a book to teach positive values? Nothing!
In fact, the Ministry has done plenty to prove otherwise!!

Use the book to teach children that the word "Pariah" is unacceptable?
You must be dreaming ...
There are teacher calling the students "monkey/dogs/pariah"- and the goverment supports them (even if they are given a slap on the wrist publicly). In fact, some are very subtly "rewarded" with transfers they'd be happy with!!
You wanna trust these people to teach virtues?
Did someone say, "critical thinking"?

With the current breed of unthinking pariahs among the teachers, liars among education directors , bigots/racists among policy makers and certified morons coming out of our univerities- I don't think so, mate ....

Who said there are no miracles?

The following report was found in an obscure (yet sworn to be reliable by the FARK/Taliban/CIA/MI6/IRA) online newspaper somewhere on the net yesterday unknown to Bolehsia's PDRM. Sources have been very secretive of the website URL. Apparently they didn't want The much dreaded unHoly Quartet Autarities' (Mr. Guni al-Patail, Mr. Krismudin, Mr. Taximan & Mr. Rice Al-Yatim) to bring it under a redefined PPPA:

Batican City, January 29- The Holy Bee has called an emergency conference for the Cardinals to discuss the amazing and miraculous events taking place in Bolehsia. The beatificaation of a few Saints have been put on hold pending review of these amazing events which many faithful have claimed to be miracles. According to sources strong lobby group from Mongolia has vouched for the miracles. Out of humility & due to a conflict of interest, the Archbishop of Bolehsia has stayed out of the events that transpire.

The first event to be discussed at this emergency session would be the spontaneous combustion of a Mongolian lady by the name of Sister Altantuya Shaaribu who piously worshipped the US Dollar and was blown to bits. All it took was a Quran swearing - and it has convinced all and sundry, that the Prime Minister (or his fat lady) was not involved in the explosive event. Claims by some quarters that C4 explosives were used have been proven false by the unHoly Quartet of Bolehsia.
In another Quranic swearing event, a "nice looking boy" called Psyfool, swore (they call it "sumpah laknat") swore that he was buggered forcefully, after he willingly showered and "cleaned" himself for the frail assailant to sodomize him. Miraculously, despite having only one assailant, investigators found no signs of forceful buggery in or around Psyfool's holy anus- but found traces three different DNAs in the holy anus. As a result, Fox Moulder is apparently trying to wangle his way into Psyfool's anus to investigate this phenomenon. Geneticists are also reportedly excited about this "Bolehsia Boleh" ejaculate, and have urged the Autarities to speed up investigations.
According to "inside information", after deep meditation & contemplation, the Pope himself declared that it was a miracle of titanic proportions, worthy of a sainthood ....

In a move that surprised even the Pope, the Bolehsian Autarities declared that another miracle of titanic proportions had taken place. A young man by the name of Kugan was apparent found dead at a police station. It was first thought that he died because he drank (water) and aspirated to death, since water was found in the lung. Later it was confirmed that he had developed multiple lacerations/abrasions/bruises as though he was whacked & bitch-slapped to death.

A recent development (click here for Cop cleared of hurting Kugan) the accused assailant, presumably set up- was released. Therefore, it would be safe to declare that there were no assailants in the incident.
The Holy Dee has launched a high-powered team to investigate if in repentence, Kugan had suffered as Jesus Christ did prior to his death- or if was just a Toyol which beat him to death. The Toyol investigation has been sub-contracted to Fox Moulder & Dana Scully of FBI's "X-files" team.

Prior to that, an erudite lawyer had claimed that remorseful Bolehsians can even strangle themselves in remorse- failing which they can fling themselves off the fourteenth floor & plunge to their death!!

Numerous other miracles have been taking place in Bolehsia- like the incorruptable face of its FLOB (fat lady of Bolehsia) akin to St. Bernadette's, the virginity of some people akin to the holy mother, the numerous miraculous parangs found in cars of child gangsters (who drive like Karamjit Singh), people dying due to drinking holy PDRM water, bullets from cowering policemen entering heads of rampaging bandits from above & exits lower etc etc etc.

When pressed for comments, His Boldiness Pope Bunedict XXVI joyously declared that it was a manifestation of the various prophecies- that the end of times are here, and God had probably selected Bolehsia to be initiators of the events due to the holiness shown by the dUMNO Government there. He even said that he would not rule out the possibility of the "rapture" taking place in Bolehsia very soon, considering the "rapture-readiness" of dUMNO leaders with the RM888 billion disappearing from the Bolehsian coffers.

His Boldiness advised all Bolehsians to pray to God for a piece of the pie .....

In another online daily ......

The international news network cited a secret investigation which was sparked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who had complained that the Saudis appeared to be funding Anwar in upcoming elections.

CNN claimed that Malaysian authorities suspected two senior Saudi princes of involvement in funding Anwar, and this led to a secret investigation by Riyadh.

A secret report seen by CNN concludes: "There is no evidence any Saudi official ever supported Anwar Ibrahim" and "claims of support from the Saudi royals named in the initial report [names redacted] were found to be without basis."

In other words- the person who alleged these things, is a big fat liar!!

Phang Resigns, and Gani Patail Lies for PPPA?

"Abdul Gani told reporters at the Jalan Duta Court Complex
the A-G’s Chambers has also engaged the Bar Council
and stakeholders on the proposed changes to the laws. "

Bar Council refutes A-G’s claim over publishing law

January 27, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — The Bar Council said today it has not been consulted on Putrajaya’s plan to change a publishing law widely believed will restrict media freedom, contrary to the Attorney-General’s statement yesterday, adding to the controversy.

“No, we were not consulted on that. We were only consulted on preventive laws, laws that allow for detention without trial, like the ISA (Internal Security Act) and the Emergency Ordinance (EO),” the law society’s chief, Ragunath Kesavan (picture), told The Malaysian Insider today.

A public furore broke out after a Home Ministry official disclosed two days ago that the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) 1984 will be amended to expand its scope to cover online “publications” and plug loopholes created by advances in technology.

National news agency Bernama reported Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mahmood Adam as saying the ministry was working with the Attorney-General’s Chambers to study the proposed amendments.

“We hope the amendments will be tabled in Parliament by March this year because we need to overcome weaknesses, especially those involving multimedia content,” Mahmood was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, A-G Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail confirmed his department has drawn up drafts to amend several laws.

He named the PPPA, the Sedition Act 1948 and ISA among them.

Abdul Gani told reporters at the Jalan Duta Court Complex the A-G’s Chambers has also engaged the Bar Council and stakeholders on the proposed changes to the laws.

He refused to comment when pressed further on who the stakeholders were, or the scope of the amendments, or even if the drafts were final.

Instead, Abdul Gani redirected the questions back to the Home Ministry.

“If he said that, it must be true. They are my clients,” he said, referring to the Home Ministry secretary-general’s statements.

“I’m not they policymaker. I don’t make the law,” he replied when asked to confirm if the laws were to be amended to cover online news.

However, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein appeared to backpedal on the issue in a news conference held later the same day.

The minister said the proposed amendments were still in the early stages and had not been finalised.
