LulzSec Finds Cause, Takes Torch of Wikileaks

LulzSec is no longer just about lulz. It has found a cause in carrying on the works of Wikileaks.

The group launched Operation Anti-Security in partnership with hacker collective Anonymous. The operation calls for all Netizens to launch attacks on any government website that comes across their paths.

However, Operation Anti-Security's m

Most recently, LulzSec took down the website of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), a UK law enforcement organization.

However, Operation Anti-Security's most important purpose is to “steal and leak any classified government information.” The prime targets will be banks and other high-ranking establishments.

Although LulzSec didn’t mention Wikileaks by name (it did list http://wikileaks.ch/ as a website it supports), that’s exactly what Wikileaks does.

The only difference is that Wikileaks obtains secret information from willing informants while LulzSec plans to steal it through hacking.

What injustice and scandals is LulzSec trying to expose? What is it upset about?

That isn’t crystal clearly due to the signature tongue-in-cheek language of LulzSec manifestos. However, the group mentioned Internet freedom, privacy, and combating systemic corruption.

It also listed four websites it supports:

Wikileaks and Anonymous are already well-known.

The Mithral link is to a hacker manifesto that rails against “profiteering gluttons” who try to control the information world. The Youtube link is to an alternative news media website that mocks the US government and other elite institutions.

In China, the true cost of Britain's clean, green wind power experiment: Pollution on a disastrous scale

It is what's left behind after making the magnets for Britain's latest wind turbines... and, as a special Live investigation reveals, is merely one of a multitude of environmental sins committed in the name of our new green Jerusalem

On the outskirts of one of China’s most polluted cities, an old farmer stares despairingly out across an immense lake of bubbling toxic waste covered in black dust. He remembers it as fields of wheat and corn.

Yan Man Jia Hong is a dedicated Communist. At 74, he still believes in his revolutionary heroes, but he despises the young local officials and entrepreneurs who have let this happen.

‘Chairman Mao was a hero and saved us,’ he says. ‘But these people only care about money. They have destroyed our lives.’

Vast fortunes are being amassed here in Inner Mongolia; the region has more than 90 per cent of the world’s legal reserves of rare earth metals, and specifically neodymium, the element needed to make the magnets in the most striking of green energy producers, wind turbines.

Live has uncovered the distinctly dirty truth about the process used to extract neodymium: it has an appalling environmental impact that raises serious questions over the credibility of so-called green technology.

The reality is that, as Britain flaunts its environmental credentials by speckling its coastlines and unspoiled moors and mountains with thousands of wind turbines, it is contributing to a vast man-made lake of poison in northern China. This is the deadly and sinister side of the massively profitable rare-earths industry that the ‘green’ companies profiting from the demand for wind turbines would prefer you knew nothing about.

Hidden out of sight behind smoke-shrouded factory complexes in the city of Baotou, and patrolled by platoons of security guards, lies a five-mile wide ‘tailing’ lake. It has killed farmland for miles around, made thousands of people ill and put one of China’s key waterways in jeopardy.

This vast, hissing cauldron of chemicals is the dumping ground for seven million tons a year of mined rare earth after it has been doused in acid and chemicals and processed through red-hot furnaces to extract its components.

Rusting pipelines meander for miles from factories processing rare earths in Baotou out to the man-made lake where, mixed with water, the foul-smelling radioactive waste from this industrial process is pumped day after day. No signposts and no paved roads lead here, and as we approach security guards shoo us away and tail us. When we finally break through the cordon and climb sand dunes to reach its brim, an apocalyptic sight greets us: a giant, secret toxic dump, made bigger by every wind turbine we build.

The lake instantly assaults your senses. Stand on the black crust for just seconds and your eyes water and a powerful, acrid stench fills your lungs.

For hours after our visit, my stomach lurched and my head throbbed. We were there for only one hour, but those who live in Mr Yan’s village of Dalahai, and other villages around, breathe in the same poison every day.

Retired farmer Su Bairen, 69, who led us to the lake, says it was initially a novelty – a multi-coloured pond set in farmland as early rare earth factories run by the state-owned Baogang group of companies began work in the Sixties.

‘At first it was just a hole in the ground,’ he says. ‘When it dried in the winter and summer, it turned into a black crust and children would play on it. Then one or two of them fell through and drowned in the sludge below. Since then, children have stayed away.’

As more factories sprang up, the banks grew higher, the lake grew larger and the stench and fumes grew more overwhelming.

‘It turned into a mountain that towered over us,’ says Mr Su. ‘Anything we planted just withered, then our animals started to sicken and die.’

People too began to suffer. Dalahai villagers say their teeth began to fall out, their hair turned white at unusually young ages, and they suffered from severe skin and respiratory diseases. Children were born with soft bones and cancer rates rocketed.

Official studies carried out five years ago in Dalahai village confirmed there were unusually high rates of cancer along with high rates of osteoporosis and skin and respiratory diseases. The lake’s radiation levels are ten times higher than in the surrounding countryside, the studies found.

Since then, maybe because of pressure from the companies operating around the lake, which pump out waste 24 hours a day, the results of ongoing radiation and toxicity tests carried out on the lake have been kept secret and officials have refused to publicly acknowledge health risks to nearby villages.

There are 17 ‘rare earth metals’ – the name doesn’t mean they are necessarily in short supply; it refers to the fact that the metals occur in scattered deposits of minerals, rather than concentrated ores. Rare earth metals usually occur together, and, once mined, have to be separated.

Extraordinary Seminar On Disabled On Thursday

Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) akan menganjurkan seminar ‘Creating a Barrier Free City-An Action for Implementation’ khusus ke arah perancangan bandar yang menekankan kepada keperluan orang kurang upaya (OKU) pada 23 Jun ini.

Timbalan Datuk Bandar, Puasa Md Taib berkata seminar yang julung kali diadakan ini adalah sebahagian daripada usaha kerajaan negeri Selangor dalam merangka pelan tindakan bagi memastikan kebajikan golongan OKU di sekitar kawasan Petaling Jaya terpelihara.

Selain itu, menurutnya tujuan utama seminar ini diadakan untuk memupuk kesedaran bagi semua yang terlibat dalam perancangan dan pembangunan dalam bandar mengikut prinsip Rekabentuk Universal(Universal Design).

“Setiap orang berhak menikmati keindahan alam kurniaan tuhan termasuk orang kurang upaya.
“Malah, seminar ini merupakan anjuran bersama Pertubuhan Perancang Malaysia (MIP) akan diadakan di hotel PJ Hilton,” katanya kepada pemberita di ibu pejabat MBPJ, hari ini.

Hadir sama, Presiden MIP, Dr. Alias Abdullah dan persatuan NGO terlibat.
Dalam sidang media itu, ahli majlis MBPJ Zon 13, Anthony Siva Balan berkata langkah untuk mengadakan seminar ini adalah satu pelaksanaan yang positif daripada pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) memahami naluri serta perasaan golongan OKU.

Beliau yang juga mewakili golongan OKU daerah Petaling Jaya memberitahu beberapa pembentang berpengalaman dari dalam dan luar negara telah dijemput untuk berkongsi idea di seminar ini.
“Antara topik yang akan dibincangkan merangkumi masalah tempat meletak kenderaan,tempat jalan kaki dan tandas awam untuk golongan OKU.

“Selepas sesi pembentangan, para peserta akan dibahagikan kepada beberapa kumpulan dalam sesi percambahan fikiran yang bertujuan untuk merangka pelan tindakan tersebut,” katanya.

Mengulas lanjut, Anthony berkata seminar satu hari ini terbuka kepada semua orang termasuk persatuan dan organisasi bukan kerajaan (NGO) di mana orang ramai digalakkan hadir untuk memberi sokongan sosial kepada golongan OKU.

On behalf of all the pet-lovers of Taman Amansiara,I'd like to thank YB William Leong and the Timbalan YDP of MPS for their sincere efforts at resolving the tensions & conflict in Taman Amansiara, by having the dialogue yesterday. They were most cooperative & concern about the developments that have taken place in Taman Amansiara.
(It was a disappointment to many of us when it was announced that Dr.Razif, whom we were "eager" to meet, would be represented by his underling at the meeting).
The MPS Legal Advisory wasn't represented, nor was the Dept of Veterinary services.

As in most places, there are a couple of dog-owners who have posed a problem to the neighbors- the reason for which we desired guidelines, to educate the people. The JMB, being "paralyzed" in this matter as a result of MPS's inability to cooperate (due to the sabotage of a certain "little napoleon"), hasn't been able to help in achieving this.
Therefore, as of last night, we pet-owners have made our own efforts at identifying the "problem households", with the help of a complainant at the dialogue.
(Note: As of 7.6.11, I have resigned as a member, to avoid having a dysfunctional JMB paralyzed by conflict- and to concentrate my efforts at resolving this matter).

However, these are small issues which only require some education & understanding of the circumstances. It has to be noted that one dog-owner is quite defensive about it because of the insecurity & trauma he & his wife have suffered as a result of a previous incidents (robbery/assault).
Other allegations mentioned by complainants remain to be verified.
Meanwhile, it has also come to my attention that there has been in the past, a Malay family with dogs, which has since moved out- presumably due to "social discomfort".

Back to the dialogue we had yesterday .....
While I'm willing to accept the efforts of YB William Leong and the Timbalan YDP of MPS towards achieving an amicable settlement on this issue, there are concerns over the uncompromising & extremist-like approach of the anti-pets lobby (and MPS Councillor Husnal) which create conflict in Amansiara- which has begun to take some racial undertones (despite not having expressly mentioned anything to that effect).

The "anti-pets lobby" also made it pretty clear in their statement yesterday, that they aren't willing to compromise, or work based on consensus even if their concerns are addressed- and wish to dictate terms to all others who live in peace in Taman Amansiara (based on their understanding of the law- like as if they were experts).
They had nothing else to base their argument on!!
And they just went on & on "flogging the dead horse" of "rule by law" ...

It was for this reason that one speaker (En Halim from the JMB- who was supportive of pets in compliance with the JMB guidelines proposed) specifically mentioned that he does not desire for things to descend to that level. En Halim was one of the attendees of the Meeting chaired by Tuan Gunaraj, and is a signatory to the letter of support submitted to MPS.

After the dialogue,when YB William & Tuan Gunaraj had left, Husnal approached me with what appeared to me to be feigned goodwill & a constipated grin. I demanded an apology from him for dividing the people & provoking a conflict in Taman Amansiara- for which I held him directly responsible (as he had confessed to st0pping the licensing & regulatory process).
I also demanded the same of him for psychologically traumatizing my wife when his underlings from MPS had come around in plainclothes taking photos (just three days after he promised to refrain from any action)- on a Sunday!

Husnal, (aka "Commander WHO" at his website which teaches "tactical psychology" apparently - LOL!!) proceeded to speak like a "Little Napoleon" claiming that he was only "following the law" as he sees it, he that he can do it- because he's in authority.
Husnal also insists that MPS cannot license any dog (despite there being two licensed dogs with Amansiara address), "because the law says so". He says that he doesn't need to charge us in court, and can proceed with seizure- "because we are the authority"!!
(This is also despite the fact that MPS Legal Advisory has previously agreed in a Meeting chaired by Tuan Gunaraj, that we do have the right to keep dogs!)

Husnal mentioned that the "status quo" (as he mentioned at the end of the dialogue yesterday) means that- no action will be taken, as long as there are no complaints ... and in the event of a complaint, they would proceed with issuing compounds & seizure of all dogs in Amansiara!!
Husnal also dared/challenged me to sue him/MPS & bring a court order if we cannot accept that, and wish to keep our dogs!!
I have many witnesses to this unbecoming words/conduct of his.

Now- Intellectual amoebas do not understand the difference between the "rule of law" and "rule by law". They do not understand that the law is meant to help us achieve an aim- and not made, for the them to be used with total disregard of circumstances.
He cannot understand that "that Mankind isn't made for the law - but that the law is made to serve the best interest of Mankind".
(Or else, we would've all been behind bars for having an "illegal assembly" as per the Police Act yesterday- for not having a police permit.
The Police Act 1967 section 27.5 (b) stipulates that a meeting .....
"in which three or more persons taking part ..... shall be deemed to be an unlawful assembly, and all persons attending, found at or taking part in such ..... meeting ... for which no licence has been issued, ...... shall be guilty of an offence"!!
As for those self-righteous "holier-than-thou" guys and "Commander WHOs" of the world, who wish to "abide by the law" - I have no idea if they intend to volunteer to be arrested for this "crime" of an "illegal assembly" which they have unwittingly committed yesterday).

They have no understanding of the law, but presume righteousness in their ignorance and bigotry. These are the "Little Napoleons" who pander to the antics of extremists for political mileage, and effectively destroy the rule of law in this beautiful nation of ours.

We must stand together to fight the evil of Extremists & "Little Napoleons" who wish to hold decent people at ransom and turn this country into a state devoid of love & compassion.
We need to save Malaysia from these unthinking bigots who insist on the "rule by law", so as to feed their chauvinism & egos.
Let us stand together for a better tomorrow to make Malaysia great again.
