Racism?

Prime Minister, Najib Razak has categorically denied that Umno is not racist. Well, maybe that is not 100% true la. 

The following document is very long and is definitely racist.  

So, reader discretion is strongly advised.

Institutional Racism and Religious freedom in Malaysia

Institutional racism is the process by which people from ethnic minorities are systematically discriminated against by a range of public and private bodies. If the result or outcome of established laws, customs or practices is racially discriminatory, then institutional racism can be said to have occurred.

In this paper we postulate that Malaysia has all the hallmarks of a racist and religious extreme state on the following foundation;
a) The Federal Constitution basically establishes 2 classes of citizens, vide Article 153, the root of the racist system.
b) The State sanctions racist and religious extreme laws and policies
c) The State controls the Government Administration through one racial and religious group
d) The State channels most funds for economic/education/social development programs and licenses, permits etc., to one race
e) The State controls Religious freedom to the disadvantage of non-Muslims, imposes of Muslim religious laws on non- Muslims and extends the jurisdiction of the Syaria Courts onto non-Muslims.
f) The State sponsors violence and threats of violence both directly and indirectly (outsourced) on the citizens to create fear among the non-Malay non-Muslims.
g) The State sanctions draconian, punitive laws and gives blank cheques to the Police to make arbitrary arrests of dissenters.
h) The State explicitly and implicitly declares that the Malays are the masters (Malay Supremacy) and the sons of soil.

How MCA "Saved" UMNO from defeat to Onn Jaafar's IMP:-

Omar Yoke-Lin Ong had risen to be an executive committee member of its Selangor branch (under Colonel H.S. Lee) by the time he met with Yahya Razak that fateful Sunday morning.

When Yoke Lin broached the UMNO-MCA Alliance idea with Cheng-Lock Tan, the latter said "Yes, yes, I support it. Anything that brings the races together is good." The inauguration of the UMNO-MCA Alliance in KL planned for another Sunday morning was another thing though. Tunku Abdul Rahman promised to attend, as did Cheng-Lock. When the Tunku turned up, there was no Cheng-Lock anywhere........
What happened was that Cheng-Lock had been "kidnapped" by the IMP people and so never turned up for that historic UMNO-MCA inauguration!

Nevertheless the upshot was that the Alliance won a big victory in the Kuala Lumpur Municipal Council election, forming the majority. Yoke Lin was chosen as Alliance leader in the Municipal Council. The UMNO-MCA Alliance juggernaut now spread like wild fire all over the country from Johor Baru to Kangar. ..........
When the local elections were all over, Yoke Lin invited the Tunku and Cheng-Lock Tan to sit down and talk, saying, "The Malays and Chinese are now comfortable working together. We should now discuss all the various big issues for independence."
And so they had round table conferences and after many meetings agreed on a strategy to fight for the next goal - independence.

Muhyiddin rewrites history

Umno refuses to accept that not all Malays support Umno; they don’t now and they didn’t in the 1950s.

COMMENT

Here we go again, Umno rewriting Malayan history.
The first was in late August, when the whole of the Umno machinery turned on PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and accused him of being a communist sympathiser.
...............Umno refuses to accept that not all Malays support Umno; they don’t now and they didn’t in the 1950s.
Back in August, the condemnation of Mat Sabu made headline news and he became Utusan’s new whipping boy.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Zainal Kling of the National Professors’ Council continued the lie that the British never colonised this country. The news took the Malaysian public by surprise and so Umno organised roadshows with professors, former policemen and ex-Inspector-General of Police Haniff Omar, trying to convince the public that Malaya was never a British colony.

Muhyiddin’s version
Umno’s second attempt at rewriting history was yesterday, at the Umno general assembly and party conference.
Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin declared that his party could have formed the government at Independence, without the help of other races.
According to him, Umno’s willingness to co-operate with the MCA and MIC in the 50s helped deflect accusations of racism and helped bring about independence.
Umno, he said, had won the majority vote in the first general election post-Merdeka and therefore, “we are not racist… we were willing to share power with others despite our ability to form a government on our own before independence”.
It is puzzling that, when Muhyiddin made his claim, the leaders of the MCA and MIC did not protest. Muhyiddin’s insult was as good as saying to their faces, “You are a pendatang and you should be grateful to us Malays for ‘sharing’ power with you and that we didn’t turf you out.”
Perhaps Muhyiddin places little value on the inter-ethnic cooperation in which the Alliance (Umno, MCA and MIC) had displayed since 1954. Muhyiddin ignores the fact that the Reid Commission of 1956 accepted proposals from the Alliance upon which to base our Constitution. Muhyiddin belittles the contribution of the non-Malays.

Bishop has Umno's info chief in his crosshairs

Catholic Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing said he was “aghast at the fear mongering” of Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan who had denounced an opposition party as “agents of Christianisation.”

“One would have been led to expect that the prime minister’s strictures against insensitive remarks would be heeded by the delegates to their party’s annual assembly,” commented the head of the Catholic Church in the Malacca-Johor diocese.

Bishop Paul Tan was referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s plea earlier this week to Umno speakers at the party’s just begun annual assembly not to utter insensitive remarks because 28 million Malaysians would be listening-in.

“But here you have no less than the party’s information chief heedless of the advice given by the PM. And how does he do that? By giving vent to a rant that is fear-drenched and bogey-ridden,” lamented the head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia.

Ahmad Maslan, in pre-assembly remarks made at a public forum yesterday, said that if Pakatan Rakyat wins power at the next general election “the Malay language will be lost, say goodbye to the Malay Sultans ... say goodbye to Islam” as the DAP “do not respect the royal institution ... (and) are agents of Christianisation.”

‘Virus spreading like a plague’

“Converting Christianity into a bogeyman is now the vogue in the discourse of demagogic politicians. One would have thought it would be confined to one irresponsible mufti in Perak and one recalcitrant state minister in Selangor but it appears the virus is spreading like a plague,” observed the Jesuit-trained prelate.

Bishop Paul Tan was referring, at first mention, to Harussani Zakaria, the mufti of Perak, who has in the last few years not infrequently raised the specter of Muslims abandoning Islam for Christianity; and, at second reference, to the Selangor state executive councillor from PAS, Dr Hasan Ali, who in the last few months has gone public with unsubstantiated allegations of Christian proselytisation of Muslims.

“One would think that if you could hold the line at one inflammatory mufti and one sensationalist state minister, you would have a chance to stem this Christian-bashing before it becomes a tide,” sighed the bishop.

“But, no, you have now the disseminator of information in the largest political party giving vent to what is, essentially, rash talk which is cheap, but he is so brazen he invites you to gainsay what he takes to be truth incontestable,” sighed the bishop.

A stark choice for voters

“You would think the information chief of a party espousing transformational policies and supposedly putting people first would spurn rash talk on matters of great sensitivity to citizens.

“But he not only asserts what is fantastical and phony, he makes mendacity spit in the eye of reproof.

“I pray voters plumb for those who have demonstrated they would do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with their God,” he said, quoting Christian scripture.

Walk For Freedom 2011: Peaceful Assembly Bill Cannot And Must Not Become Law!

Dear Members of the Malaysian Bar   Walk For Freedom 2011: Peaceful Assembly Bill Cannot And Must Not Become Law! Tuesday, 29 Nov 2011 at 11:30 am, From Royal Lake Club to Parliament   Martin Luther King Jr once said that “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”   The Malaysian Bar and indeed Malaysia is now facing such a moment of challenge and controversy — an objectionable Bill, being rushed into law with unseemly haste without adequate public consultation, which effectively robs the rakyat of our constitutional right to freedom of assembly.   This Peaceful Assembly Bill (“Bill”) is far more restrictive than the current law.  It is not a piece of legislation which we, as lawyers, can watch enter our statute books without standing up against it.  It is not a piece of legislation which we want future generations to inherit, without us walking, and spending every ounce of our energy to oppose.  If this piece of legislation makes it to the statute books, future generations would inherit a nation that is far from modern and progressive. Members of the Bar are now called upon to march to object to this Bill.  The walk will take place next Tuesday, 29 Nov 2011, from the entrance of the Royal Lake Club to Parliament House, to deliver the Bar’s Proposed Amendments to the Peaceful Assembly Bill to YB Datuk Liew Vui Keong, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.  Members are advised to gather in their court attire at 11:30 am outside the Royal Lake Club entrance.   The Prime Minister, in his eve of Malaysia Day 2011 speech, had promised that:   … long gone is the era in which the government knows everything and claims monopoly over wisdom … The Government will also review section 27 of the Police Act 1967, taking into consideration Article 10 of the Federal Constitution regarding freedom of assembly and so as to be in line with international norms on the same matter … (emphasis added)  … a Malaysia that practices [sic] a functional and inclusive democracy … in accordance with the supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law and respect for basic human rights and individual rights.   This Bill is not in line with international norms because of, amongst others:   (1) Prohibition of street protests (defined widely as “open air assembly which begins with a meeting at a specified place and consists of walking in a mass march or rally for the purpose of objecting to or advancing a particular cause or causes”); (2)  Prohibition of organisation of assemblies by persons below the age of twenty one years; (3)  Prohibition of participation in peaceful assemblies of children below the age of fifteen years;  (4)  Unduly onerous responsibilities and restrictions on organisers and assemblies; and (5)  Excessive fines for non-compliance of the Bill.   Therefore this Bill is not “in accordance with the supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law and respect for basic human rights and individual rights”, which the Prime Minister promised it would be.   The Bill is in its second reading in the Dewan Rakyat, and in all likelihood it will be passed after the third reading.  We must remain hopeful that we can make a difference, through our Walk for Freedom.  We must urge the Prime Minister to amend the Bill by way of public consultation to ensure that Malaysia will have a legislation in the public interest, which truly upholds, protects and promotes our constitutional right to freedom of assembly. Speaking of the "humbuggery" - I just want to highlight some of the "quoteable quotes" of an idiotic pseudo-intellectual masquerading as part of the "Islamic intelligentsia".
Never mind "islam", but this guy gives his surname a bad name.

This guy has declared that all these Human Rights movements are the result of "GUILT" from past minority persecutions .... and the "great Islamic civilizations" were free from any persecution of any minority groups.
Maybe this guy has never read the other side of "Islamic History"- prefering to immerse himself in "glorious texts" prepared by the mercenary scribes of the ruling elite ...
(Or maybe he meant that they just don't feel any guilt from the injustices meted out on minority groups in the past or present since it has all been "syariah ordained", I cannot say though).

If this is the quality of "Islamic Thinkers", I'm sorry to say that I'm terribly disappointed - and if this is also the quality elsewhere, it is no wonder that these communities are a mess in many places around the world.
