However, there have been periodic harassment from the MPS officers serving notices to Pet owners citing "Kacau-ganggu" as per Local Govt Laws ...
How "memelihara 2 ekor anjing" is called "kacau-ganggu" is beyond me ... but apparently it is a nuisance to keep a pet- despite the fact that local govt laws permit pets.
Even if there were cases of nuisance by dogs in Amansiara, wouldn't it be reasonable for MPS to serve warning letters citing the form of "nuisance" they speak of? Do they have any evidence at all? Do they even know what they are doing?
It is this kind of mindless actions on the part of the local government which earns it much negative image it has among pet lovers.
Here's what has been published at Pet Positive on this matter:-
PETPOSITIVE: Amansiara Pet Owners' Heckles Raised This Morning

PETPOSITIVE NEWSFLASH!
DATELINE AMANSIARA, SELAYANG, SELANGOR:
PET LOVERS RESIDING IN THE LOCAL TOWNHOUSE HERE RECEIVED A NASTY SHOCK THIS MORNING.
OFFICERS FROM THE SELAYANG MUNICIPAL COUNCIL (MPS) DELIVERED A NOTICE DEMANDING THEM TO GIVE UP THEIR PETS WITHIN THREE DAYS OR RISK BEING FINED RM1000.00 OR FACE JAIL FOR SIX MONTHS.
A check by PET+BLOGSPOT with an official from the Health Department of MPS has confirmed the issuance of the notice.
The incident naturally raised the heckles of many pet owners who accused the council of failing to tackle the real issue of pet irresponsibility by going after the culprits than to blame all dog owners.
About 50 residents of Amansiara own dogs.
A responsible pet owner in the Townhouse with two dogs told PET+BLOGSPOT that animal lovers will fight this ruling all the way.
They intend to hold a demonstration against the ruling at the MPS headquarters soon. They also intend to get the help of Member of Parliament for Selayang William Leong to resolve the matter.
They also plan, if need be, to take the matter to take the matter right up to Selangor State Executive Councillor for Health Dr A Xavier Jayakumar. On our part, PETPOSITIVE will firmly back the efforts of all responsible pet owners in Amansiara for their actions.
This is not the first time that the MPS has come under fire for its management of dog issues.
Animal NGOs - including the Canine Advisory Team of the Petaling Jaya City Council and Majlis Perbandaran Klang - have called for the setting up of monthly canine committee (CAT) to resolve animal issues in the council.
Whilst MPS had promised to set up such a body - with the participation of Department of Veterinary Services - it has been learnt that there has been no such meeting since.
Said Petpositive President Anthony Thanasayan of the latest developments, "MPS is making a grave error by targeting innocent pet owners who are responsible for their pets. The turn of events could very well blow up in the council's face which will not at all be good for their image."
