A thamby's Sex video plan KANTOI !!!

Below is the Statement on a certain (allegedly pedophile) thamby's "Carcosa Sex-video" Deceit.
(All emphasis, mine)
Since Hishamuddin's "special squad" from PDRM to investigate the matter is proven incompetent beyond all doubt, let's not blame the PDRM any longer ... OR BLAME the moronic NAZRI FOR MAKING PORN LEGAL (if it is done with good intentions).

Now- WILL HISHAMUDDIN'S INSTRUCT PDRM TAKE ACTION?

Agenda fitnah dah terbongkar!!

Justifying the Subversion of the Federal Constitution?

======================================

"I locked my gate to protect my family from unwanted intrusion.
One day, without reason I thought that
my family may be disturbed by my neighbours.
I went over to my neighbours
and locked their gate to stop them from coming out.

When my neighbours complained,
I said, "I locked my gate too and why can't I lock yours?"
"
- 'SickNegara', Qurans stamped and serialised too , Malaysiakini

=====================================

The stamping of the Bibles issue has been at the forefront of the many manufactured controversies of late, and we've had many people making comments on it. Many have seemed to have lost the plot- they seem to belive that just because Malaysian Muslim have accepted (willingly or otherwise) the KDN as their thought/religious police, it is justified for them to do the same with other religions.

It seems to me that the Umno regime is doing everything within the realm of possibilities to control every aspect of Malaysian life in the name of "National Security".
Non-Islamic religions appear to be one of the few institutions which seems to be beyond their control as of now- and they're now using the power of the Islamic Institutions to justify encroaching upon the constitutional liberties they enjoy. As days go by, it becomes increasingly obvious that having had control over Islam, they now wish to control other religions as well- hence imposing the "sentiments/opinions" of certain ignorant people & discredited religious bureaucrats upon the practice of other religions.
If they succeed at doing this- all religious freedom will soon be lost forever- as it "may

They seem to have forgotten that the Federal Constitution protects the rights & independence of each and every religion to manage their own affairs.
Let's take a look at what the Federal Constitution says .....

Article number: 11
(1)Every person has the right to profess and practice his religion and, subject to Clause (4), to
propagate it.
(2) No person shall be compelled to pay any tax the proceeds of which are specially allocated in whole or in part for the purposes of a religion other than his own.
(3) Every religious group has the right -
(a) to manage its own religious affairs;
(b) to establish and maintain institutions for religious or charitable purposes; and
(c) to acquire and own property and hold and administer it in accordance with law.

(4) State law and in respect of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Lubuan, federal law
may control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among persons
professing the religion of Islam.
(5) This Article does not authorize any act contrary to any general law relating to public order, public health or morality.

Now- Which part exactly, of the above, don't these KDN guys understand?
When and from where exactly did they get the authority to scrutinize Bibles when they have no knowledge of Christian Theology or the different schools of thought?
When exactly did they get the authority to decide how one of another religion worships?
As it is they have been using taxpayers' money to fund Islamic institutions - which runs contrary to Clause (2)- which Malaysians don't complain about .... now they tell us they have to scrutinize our scriptures?

Here is what Wong Chun Wai of The Star had to say in Find a way out of this deadlock :-

"But when the stamping is done by the authorities, it takes on a different dimension."

"In short, if it is not an issue in Sabah and Sarawak, why is there a need to complicate the matter? We do not have to be experts of the Constitution to know that state enactments cannot supersede the Federal Constitution.....

Religion may be state matters but the Federal Constitution reigns supreme with the guarantee of freedom to profess and practise one’s religion (Article 11).

In fact, the decision to stamp the words “For Christians Only” could well be unconstitutional. The Federal Constitution is very clear on the right of Malaysians to religious freedom, .....

But there is no evidence that these imported Bibles would be used to propagate to Muslims. By putting conditions such as serial numbers and stamping “For Christians Only” on the Bibles, the authorities could well be exceeding their powers and even infringe the Federal Constitution."

It appeared that he articulated the sentiments of the Christians quite well and you would've thought that this guy actually was a Christian ..... until .... he, in his usual BN Apologist fashion, changes his tune towards the end, and appears to suggest that "we accept this travesty of justice & humiliation and move on" by with the following very "spiritual" and nauseating advice:

"In this season of Lent, as we pray and prepare ourselves for Easter with repentance, fasting, spiritual discipline and moderation, let us remind ourselves that the Bible only comes alive because of our faith. The Bible, in the most perfect condition, will remain useless if it is just left on the shelf, untouched."
So much for Wong Chun Wai .....

They want to tell us that what we do among non-Muslims, shakes the faith of Muslims, and hence they should control us?? (I cannot imagine a bigger insult upon my faith if a cleric tells me that my faith can be shaken by the act of another- but many Muslims seem to be quite approving of this opinion of themselves .... but that's their choice though).
As it is they have forced Christian symbols off the many reputable schools they set up. Next they'll be telling us that any act of worship, or maybe even the public celebration of other festivals unless Muslim- would shake the faith of Muslims, has to be forbidden!

==============================
I feel hopeless that the fact my church is constantly under attack because someone somewhere feels it’s a brilliant political strategy to “pinch the baby and rock the cradle”.
I feel incredulous at the thought that the government, clerics, the Home Ministry, Umno, Perkasa, the Muslim consumers association are being consulted over Christian Bibles!

-Stop oppressing the Christians — Emmanuel Joseph
====================================

It is beyond comprehension, how some people (like our Home Minister of the kris-wielding fame, Mr Hishamuddin or even the sms-sending Harussani) can justify subverting the Federal Constitution, based on "a feeling" that the arabic word "Allah" should only be used in an Islamic context in the interest of "national security" ..... an opinion which incidently doesn't seem to have anything to support it whatsoever- religious or historical.

However, the sad truth is- there are some pseudo-intellectual unthinking souls choose to blindly submit & kowtow to these subversives who intend to override the Federal Constitution- what more, the man on the street- in the interest of "national security". Maybe these guys will submit to a Malaysian Hitler some day- when he decides that all non-Muslim Malaysians need serial numbers tattooed on their foreheads ... as it will only be in the interests of "national security", of course!
They'll then probably say, "It is only a tattoo, just accept it and move on with life okay- what is important is you get to go on living ..."

It is mind-boggling that in this time and age, that there are people (that too, "doctors") who can actually espouse such simplistic pseudo-intellectual rationale to justify tyranny. It is hardly surprising that many men on the street are confused by all the Umno sponsored propaganda, when people who are apparently educated can come out which such twisted logic.

Anyways- Raffick, the much 'enlightened' doctor, published a picture of a KDN stamped & serialized Quran, as a justification for the home ministry's similar actions on 30,000 Bibles. What twisted logic- for that alone, anyone can be forgiven for thinking of him as an ill-bred, unthinking simpleton.
That's like a suicide bomber, saying that if he can kill himself, he has every right to kill others as well ...

But I guess, when the Umno spin-doctor - Syed Akbar Ali (a crude commenter aka "muftimurtad" back then on MalaysiaToday (click here for more info on that) before he got arrested- now appointed to the MACC much publicity & also the Pro-tem chairman of "Blog-House", apparently) can come out with advice on "ethical blogging"- anyone can be dishing out free nonsensical "advice" ....

(NOTE- I however believe that Syed Akbar's"sedition" was not only unjustified, but also, ridiculous!!)

Interlok – When a language lesson isn’t about language

interlok lesson5

by Eyes Wide Open

Literature is indeed an excellent subject to help students develop communication skills, creative expression, critical thinking skills and appreciation of culture. Most of all, teaching literature should be about teaching the student to enjoy reading for himself/herself, so that through books he/she can gain an knowledge about things in the world-at-large.

Interlok was selected as the text for the compulsory literature component of the SPM Bahasa Melayu paper. However, it seems that Interlok has now been elevated to the status of race relations handbook. This can be seen in the various statements made by the literati, think tanks and the author himself.

Our own Education Ministry study guide seems to hint that this is exactly the ‘mission’ that has been assigned to Interlok, given its potential to mind-bend the way youths view their own race and their assigned place in the societal hierarchy.

It is clear that there is a quiet, unwritten acceptance that Interlok is an accurate roadmap for Malaysian race relations that must be taught to SPM students.

Missing The Forest For The Trees

Many people have argued that people should not be so sensitive, and that they should give Interlok as chance, that opinions that Interlok is being used as a political/racial indoctrination tool is just pure fantasy. We say, these people have not appreciated the scope of the issue at hand – this is a NATIONAL issue that affects every SPM student and their families.

But rather than present another lengthy argument against the use of Interlok in schools, we’ll let the cold, hard facts speak for themselves.

Hopefully, the facts and documentary evidence we present today will put all other arguments and conjectures to rest once and for all.

HartalMSM has managed to obtain a copy of a classroom lesson plan, designed and prescribed by the Education Ministry’s Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum – BPK (Curriculum Development Section). We present excerpts of it here. See for yourself whether it is really the government’s intention to indoctrinate students via the study of Interlok.

Below are excerpts of a classroom lesson plan for Interlok:

Translated:

Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the student can :
i. State at least three social settings for each book.
ii. Provide appropriate examples for the social settings presented.
iii. Present the selected excerpts of the novel with correct pronunciation and intonation.

So the Ministry’s intended result is for students to memorise the “social settings” of each race as exemplified in the selected excerpts. At this point, it may begin to smell suspicious to those who are quicker on the uptake. But anyone still entertaining optimistic thoughts that Interlok is really meant to teach students literature should quickly abandon all hope. The political indoctrination agenda becomes quickly apparent as the lesson plan progresses.

Blatant Political Indoctrination In Classrooms

Translated:

STEP: Induction Set

Teaching and learning activity
- Teacher to display 1 Malaysia logo.
- Students to be asked to state their opinions of the logo.
- Students to be asked to interpret the 1 Malaysia logo and teacher to connect it to the day’s lesson

Isn’t the point of a language lesson to teach language? Why are students in a classroom being asked to study a political slogan. What does it have to do with literature? Since when did language / literature textbooks become political education tools?

It is patently obvious that the real intention of the lesson plan is anything BUT literature! In reality, it looks like it has been designed to drill the officially-sanctioned mode of race relations into students, just like what the next section reveals:

Translated:

STEP 1 – Social Setting of Each Book

Teaching and learning activity
– Students to be divided into four groups and each group is given an card with instruction.
– Students asked to read and and appreciate the given excerpts, to be presented again in storytelling format.
– A representative from each group to read excerpts from the novel found in the instruction cards with appropriate style and intonation to demonstrate the social setting found in the excerpts of the novel.

And just what are students expected to “read and appreciate”? Here are a sampling of the various excerpts that students have to discuss for the classroom activities above:

Depicting Malay society

Excerpts from Buku 1 to be read by students in class:

- Ibu Seman mundur sedikit member jalan kepada dukun ituu. Kemudian dia membawanya ke dekat suaminya yang sedang terbaring seperti mayat. (Topic: Pak Musa is terminally ill, but being an ignorant villager, visits a shaman instead of a hospital)

(Topic: Despite his poor health, Pak Musa is in good spirits, naively thinking his family would be well taken care of with the money he got from Cing Huat)

- Berita kematian Pak Musa itu dalam sekejap masa saja berkocak mengganggu ketenangan waktu subuh. (Topic: Pak Musa suddenly dies, setting the stage for Cing Huat to appear later to seize all his properties and evict his family like mangy dogs.)

Depicting Chinese society

Excerpts from Buku 2 to be read by students in class:

- “Ah, tak usah lu khuatir. Dia sudah bagus kerja sini, itu tauke bilang Cing Huat banyak rajin; dan kalau lu mahu jual dia mahu beli.” Paman Kok Leng tersenyum lebar. (Topic: Child slave trade / parents selling children is common practise among the Chinese.)

(Topic: The typical Chinese are aggressive economic predators, with little social concerns)

Depicting Indian society

Excerpts from Buku 3 to be read by students in class:

- Adakah ini fitnah? Adakah orang ini sengaja mahu memburuk-burukkan Maniam? (Topic: Indians are big gossips and slanderers.)

- Masyarakat kebun itu gempar. Beberapa orang kuli lelaki ikut Perumal mengejar Maniam. (Topic: Indians are irrational and violent people)

- Anak-anak kita mesti diajar bahasa dan kebudayaan kita. Mereka mesti kita beritau tentang negeri dan bangsa kita. (Topic: Tamil vernacular schools exist to teach Indian children to love Indian culture, not because there was no other education option for them.)

How Fun Is This So Far?

I can hear some people still stubbornly shaking their heads and insisting that everything being said here is wild, unsubstantiated conjecture. Well, here’s a screenshot that shows the teacher’s copy of the worksheet for the Indian Social Setting excerpt that students must answer in the classroom:

Screenshot of actual sample worksheet prepared by Education Ministry to be used in the classroom. Notice the kind of racial stereotypes being force-fed into students' minds?

Here’s another screenshot of another worksheet that students have to do, complete with sample answers for the teacher. Notice the development of a palpable narrative as the excerpts progress down the worksheet: the Malays are devout people > the Chinese are bigoted against the innocent, devout Malays > yet the Malays still save the Chinese’s lives (despite the fact that they were swindled out of all they owned by the Chinese). And notice the use of the word “masyarakat” (society) and not “individu” or “watak” (individual or character). The characteristics of a single character in the novel is being imprinted upon the entire societies.

The selected excerpts provide a not-so-subtle narrative that bears striking resemblance to the BTN's doctrine of Malay generosity despite their victimisation at the hands of the Chinese. Coincidence?

I can’t imagine what the students will feel about themselves and each other when such racist narratives are reiterated week after week during Interlok lessons.

Let’s not forget also that in the lesson plan, students are also required to present the excerpts in a storytelling format, complete with “appropriate style and intonation” – which we take to mean that students have to put on their best pakcik, apek or aneh accents when they tell the stories of how helpless the Malays are, how heartless the Chinese are and how heedless the Indians are. We can imagine the kids’ embarrassed laughter at their own exaggerated attempts to sound “authentic” to the “social settings”.

I’m sure the Ministry thinks that’s worth a whole barrel of hoots! Perhaps almost as much fun as the cartoon of Ultraman running away from a killer tsunami that killed thousands of sepets.

But for the rest of us here, it is with utter disbelief that we read that among the focus of the lesson are:

- Menyatakan perasaan secara berterus-terang dan beradab tentang sesuatu perkara untuk mengekalkan hubungan.
- Aras 3(i)Mengemukakan kritikan membina yang mengambil kira sensitiviti orang lain.

- (Enable students) to express their feelings about something frankly and politely in order to maintain relationships.
- Present constructive criticism that takes into account others’ sensitivities.

We find it extremely ironic and laughable that the government states this as a desired result in the classroom, when the Ministry’s lesson plan forces students to reinforce negative racial stereotypes, absorb racial / political indoctrination, and laugh at each other’s fake, stereotypical accents for 80 minutes. And there is no way for students and teachers to escape this humiliation - teachers MUST use the Ministry’s Interlok study materials as exam questions will be taken from there.

Interlok – ALL Parents Need To Protest

See how Interlok is used to insult with its shameless endorsement of derogatory racial stereotypes, for its insidious peddling of dangerous racial doctrines, for its indoctrination of impressionable young minds, and most of all, for its arrogance that parents and students have no say about what values they can be taught.

People really need to realise that Interlok is not an Indian issue, it’s not about whether a book is good enough to be used in schools, it’s not about race sensitivities or factual errors. The racist lesson plans is an affront to ALL peace-loving Malaysians.

And the government’s insistence on making Interlok compulsory in schools makes it a NATIONAL issue affecting every family in Malaysia. If today, a book like Interlok is allowed to be used as compulsory indoctrination in schools, it gives the government permission to repeat the formula in other places and times.

All parents, regardless of race, need to repel this attempt to poison ever younger minds against each other.

Say ‘No’ to the indoctrination of our youth! Because your next generation will reap what is being sown today.

As such, we ALL need to stand up and demand that such insidious indoctrination be thrown out of schools!

“Pinch the Baby and Rock the Cradle”

"I feel hopeless that the fact my church is constantly under attack because someone somewhere feels it’s a brilliant political strategy to
“pinch the baby and rock the cradle”.

I feel incredulous at the thought that the government, clerics,
the Home Ministry, Umno, Perkasa, the Muslim consumers association
are being consulted over Christian Bibles!"
"... PAS, a Muslim party, has ... asked for a lottery ban
and you called it an infringement of non-Muslim rights.
May I be so bold as to ask what do you call
35,000 Bibles being held up and “bar coded”?"

Stop oppressing the Christians — Emmanuel Joseph

The Malaysian Insider
March 18, 2011

MARCH 18 — I rarely read the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia. The only time I do read is when I help prepare the liturgy for Sunday Mass. My church has one of the readings in Bahasa, to be more inclusive of our Sabahan, Sarawakian and Indonesian brothers and sisters who attend. So banning the Bible in Bahasa does not really affect me personally as a Christian.

But as a Christian too, I feel angered at the thought that the Bible is being treated with as much respect as a terrorist bomb-making manual. I feel upset that my fellow Christians from Sabah and Sarawak and Orang Asli Christians are being denied their right to read the Bible in the only language they understand.

Bibles that never should have been confiscated in the first place!

Bibles that are the religious teachings, holy text and sacred instructions for Christians! Everyone’s opinion in this seems to matter, EXCEPT the Christians. What next? Will the government want a say in the appointment of our bishops too? How about the government design our churches, ordain our priests and prepare our liturgical texts as well? You’re halfway there already.

The churches in Malaysia receive hardly any government aid, monetary or otherwise. We build our own churches, pay our own preachers, and run our own outreach programmes. Christians ask for nearly nothing from the government, quite to the contrast, help ease the government’s burdens with schools, hospices, old folk’s homes, HIV awareness programmes, youth programmes, just to name a few.

How many laws must be enacted before weak-minded, selfish individuals are no longer distrustful of Christians? How many more injustices must churches suffer before people in higher places realise we are not a threat? How much more must we give in before they leave us alone?

First it was the schools. Schools that were built by Christian missionaries for all people, irrespective of religious background. Schools that educated hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of Malaysians. Hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens, community halls, charity outreach missions, one by one was forced to “lessen the tone” of their Christian identity because the government created a false sense of fear that Christians were covertly converting people, that we were spreading our religion. If that were truly the case, Malaysia would be a Christian country by now! The concept of selflessness, of charity, the fruit of every religion, seems alien to the government. Could it be because the government, with all its actions, for its entire slogan spewing, with all its high-handedness does not really practise the religion they so vigorously “enforce”?

I can understand if the Muslim ministers in the government have been misled into believing all that is being said about the Christians. But what about the non-Muslim ministers? What about the Christian ministers? Dare you call yourselves Christians when your religion is being trivialised and your Holy Book is being used as a political pawn by your own party?

When PAS, a Muslim party, has found the courage to stand up for the Christians, when PKR, a predominantly Malay party has spoken out for us? When non-Christians are speaking up for us, your silence is deafening. A short squeak here and there to assure your voters you’re still a Christian is hardly considered standing up for your religion. Where is your courage in opposing PAS’s so called hardliner stance now? They asked for a lottery ban and you called it an infringement of non-Muslim rights. May I be so bold as to ask what do you call 35,000 Bibles being held up and “bar coded”?

This is nothing short of bullying. This is nothing short of religious persecution. This is nothing short of abuse of power. This is nothing short of political fear mongering. This is nothing short of dangerously playing the religious card to divide and rule Malaysians. Enough is enough. Stop oppressing the Christians. We deserve better.

"Manufactroversy" & The Dumbing Down of Malaysia

==========================
““Bible Society of Malaysia is alarmed
by the defacement of the Christian bible
by non-Christians chopping it with words
that the Christians have not accepted or agreed to,” it added.
-The Malaysian Insider.

"Having said that, I must say that I am extremely disappointed with the reaction of a Catholic bishop of Melaka-Johor diocese. Mr. Paul Tan Chee Ing has denounced the two conditions imposed by the Home Ministry for the release of detained consignments of 'Al-Kitab' as "crass forms of censorship redolent of the communist era" .
If there were lack of wisdom on the part of our political masters earlier than I would say that it appears that it had infected Mr. Paul himself."
-Raffick, rights2write (R2W)

===============================

Before I go on about what I wish to write on, I'd like to express my heartfelt sorrow on the calamities suffered by our Japanese brothers & sisters who face the aftermath of the earthquake/ tsunami. Our prayers are with you (even if KDN wishes to deface and give serial numbers to our Bibles, while racist/hate propaganda is justified & fed to the masses like it was chicken-soup for the soul) .....
As for our FLOM's comment on the cause of the tsunami .... I'm sure Najib is "green" with envy with such intellectual prowess which was even captured by CNN iReport.
Bravo, Najib- you ought to be proud of your better half who is now an international "celebrity" of sorts!!

Getting to the point- what we see above is a certain level of ignorance on part of some who do not understand the humiliation which the Government wishes to impose upon the Christian community. They do not seem to understand that "two wrongs, don't make a right". Instead, what do they do? they choose to get disappointed with the victim, while they "undertand how difficult it was for the government" to sort out this mess which happened to come about through their own stupidity!

How compassionate of Raffick ... in all his "wisdom" he says, "Personally I don't see the need to do so but then if it gives the government the comfort to have such insignificant paragraph stamped in the bible, then so be it." ...
I'm pretty sure many Germans said the same when Jews were tattooed with serial numbers, and certainly the same with Zionists today who say it when a wall was made to prevent Palestinians from making a living - to "give comfort to the government" which oppresses!!
How nice ....

Bravo, Raffick- now you have come up with a new line of thinking in "democracy" ... that the dumbed-down people have to "give comfort" to the stupid ruling elite!!! (I'm sure the Japs thought so too, when they were screwing all those "comfort women" to death).

**********************************
"A manufactured controversy, sometimes shortened into ... manufactroversy,
is a contrived controversy, typically motivated by
profit or ideology,
designed to create public confusion concerning an issue
about which there is no substantial academic dispute."

-Wikipedia
************************************

In an article published by The Malaysian Insider, (Ulama chief: Alkitab yes, ‘Allah’ no), it was mentioned that- "PUM president Datuk Sheikh Abdul Halim Abdul Kadir said that Muslims here were already fighting a “tough” battle to keep the term “Allah” exclusive to them because non-Muslims in other countries had already used “Allah” with little or no controversy. “The issue is that in most countries non-Muslims have used the word ‘Allah’... but we want to defend ‘Allah’ because we feel that it should be for Muslims. The reason being is that ‘Allah’ cannot be equated with any [other] version or concept of God. It is not an issue of translation."

So "Crever wan, this guy!!" ..... what he means to say is that- the merits to any argument is irrelevant, even if proven worldwide- what matters is what he believes!!
He doesn't even care if he is sounding very silly .... all that matters is that he can rile up the people using a non-issue, by virtue of his position as a de-facto "wise guy" who decides that he has to defend an almighty God, and take preventive measures to "save sinful souls" ... just in case it becomes an issue!!
Effectively, he does admit that this is a "manufactured controversy"- to get unthinking people (or those who don't think right) frothing in their mouth!!

This is how Umno has been ruling Malaysia, and this is how the dumbing down of Malaysians is executed - while many Malaysians think up excuses to "intellectualize" stupidity, and justify oppression & bigotry.
They manufacture controversies where none exist, justify it in the name of stupidity- then make laws to control the damage done, because "the people need to be held on a short leash like dogs" with their numerous silly laws which deprive men of their liberty!!
That is what many in Malaysia have become- unthinking, rabid dogs- which just run wild when the leash comes off .......

But of course, Raffick doesn't see that and appreciates the difficulty in holding a "leash"- "The Bishop should appreciate the difficulty in getting this bible out to their owners", says he ..... maybe he needs appreciate how difficult it is to educate those who prefer stupidity, without making excuses for them!!
Next he'll be justifying violence to "comfort the government" or maybe even to knock some sense into people ....

Yeah ....... some people are shameless in their ignorance and justify anything!!

==================================================

"Stupid being what stupid does, they do it "to avoid conflict",
then cause a conflict which has to be controlled
with laws which can get you arrested

- even as you are thinking of responding to the conflict!!

MUHYIDDIN- WITHDRAW INTERLOK, NOW!!

Interlok: Time to Make a Stand

Friday, 18 March 2011 admin-s

It is in the educational sector where proponents of the Ketuanan Melayu dogma have sought to impose their will and polarize our communities.

By Dr. Lim Teck Ghee

As the drama over the Interlok textbook issue continues to unfold, it is important for Malaysians to understand the context and the stakes involved, and to make a stand.

There are some defenders of the book who have argued that withdrawing or even just editing it will rob Malaysian writers of their artistic freedom and integrity. To these people, I would like to say “Hello, where have you been” – Interlok has already been edited twice, in 2005 for Edisi Pelajar and in 2010 for Edisi Murid.

Its literary integrity was already compromised by the shedding of some 85 pages even before this latest controversy.

In fact, copyright for the edition distributed free to schools no longer belongs to Abdullah Hussain but to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

Hence Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement that his ministry “will ensure that any amendments made will not affect the storyline of the novel and the noble message that the author wants to convey” is nothing short of whitewash.

According to reports, Muhyiddin is not permitting anything beyond deletion of the word ‘pariah’.

This concession is like slicing off one tentacle from a hundred-headed hydra – a totally pointless exercise.

Make no mistake; Interlok is a work that must not be permitted into the nation’s class rooms as a compulsory literature text. Anything less is a vital failure to grasp the gravity of the threat it poses.

The quarrel is not merely with vocabulary or spelling (for example, of ‘tali’ vs ‘thali’) but the overall suitability of the novel with its overt and covert racial messages as a school text.

Starting ‘em young and younger

Concern by many Malaysians that Interlok has been intentionally selected by the authorities to fulfill the Umno/Biro Tata Negara objective of indoctrinating young minds with a warped worldview and national view is hardly misplaced.

Before these concerns are dismissed as imaginary or overwrought, let us not forget that education has long been and continues to be the most politicized sector of the country.

Far from being neutral institutions, many of our public sector colleges and universities consciously and consistently promote a narrow nationalism.

It is in the educational sector where proponents of the Ketuanan Melayu dogma have sought to impose their will and polarize our communities.

Their missionary zeal focuses on use of race-based criteria at all levels and in all aspects. It is no surprise therefore that the propagation of the ideology of super-ordination and subordination has now been extended to the schools, and to the curriculum and text books.

As has been pointed out by those who have analysed the Interlok content, why are all the villains and nasty characters Chinese and Indians?

One of the key plots turns on the rapacious Chinese merchant swindling the easily duped Malay of his inheritance.

Touted as a ‘historical novel’, Interlok is constructing a version of BTN history and racial stereotypes to influence young minds.

Drawing line in the sand

Its government-mandated and authorities-supported dissemination and circulation appears to further a carefully thought-out agenda to fan racial animosity.

Because Interlok is the first round battle (in tandem with the History curriculum revamp), it is important for conscientious objectors to send a strong signal to the Education Minister and his bureaucratic and academic cronies that Malaysians will not be cowed into acquiescence.

We must exercise our right to openly discuss, criticize and protest on this crucial matter.

To remain mute will only embolden the apologist wolves wrapped in their sheep clothing of educational good intention and defence of literary freedom.

"Manufactroversy" & The Dumbing Down of Malaysia

==========================

===============================

==================================================

"Stupid being what stupid does, they do it "to avoid conflict",
then cause a conflict which has to be controlled
with laws which can get you arrested

- even as you are thinking of responding to the conflict!!
(very crever, eh?)"
